Help! Big Purchase Today! 2014 GS350 FSport Vs 2014 E350 MB (needing expert help!)
I'm making a huge purchase today and I'm having a hard time deciding on which vehicle to take. The analogy I use is Iphone vs Android. The GS has all the bells and whistles but the MB is sleek and has all the style..
In the LONG run, which would be the better buy? The E350 has 45k miles and priced at $27k and the GS350 has 30k mikes and prices at $31k.The both ride smooth and nice to look at lol but I need more help. The salesman is more of a Lexus guy so he's pretty bias but please offer your options. FYI, I will be getting a 5/6 yr warranty on either one when purchased.

Definitely get the Lexus (totally unbiased opinion from a Lexus forum member )
Kidding aside...these are the reasons I would get the Lexus over the Mercedes
-The GS handles way better than the E350. Drive the GS in Sport S+ mode and you'll fall in love.
-The GS is faster than the E350.
-The color combo you found for the GS is perfect (little biased). The Mercedes looks a little boring, especially with the base headlights.
-Interior of the GS is much more modern than the E350. Look how small that screen is in the E350 compared to the GS.
-Most Mercedes I've encountered have MBTex vinyl rather than leather, and sometimes are missing basic features like keyless access/start.
-Lexus has a much higher reliability rating than Mercedes, especially for those years.
-Even though you have the warranty, things on Mercedes start to go bad around 50K miles. Be prepared to leave your car in the shop for a while. Nothing major reported for the GS, even high mileage ones.
-Lexus maintenance cost less than Mercedes.
-Parts outside warranty cost less on Lexus than Mercedes

As someone who explored the benz/bmw/lexus route, GS! I just helped find a GS f sport for my buddy after he had his 135i totaled and he loves the car.
More reliable, better looking inside and out, better to drive. Now if it was a choice between the S class and GS I'd say S-class because I love that car.

GS price little high for non CPO
Is this the GS you are looking at? https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/701025975/overview/?aff=share_text
If you are going for GS, you should ask for lower the price, look like it is a "bare" F-sport, no ML, no Rear steering, no HU display. I think the black wheels not available until 2015 for Craft Line.

Since you mentioned "LONG run," there shouldn't even be any debate about this decision.. it's more about how much you care about reliability or are willing to pay out of pocket to cover future expenses.
If you truly care about the long run of a vehicle, particularly when the car is out of warranty, I'm not sure why you would even consider a MB.

Do note that they are not both smooth.
The E Class is softer and smoother.
However, the GS is pin sharp, and handles almost like a compact car.
Yes, in the LONG run, the Lexus is always the better buy for reliability, but how long is long? 5-6 years, or 10 years plus?
It all boils down to what you want in a motor car...

At 30k miles, something you need to look for, front brakes pads, tires, are they new? Car Fax showed 1 tire replaced, previous owner must ran over the curb, car pulling when test drive? Try hit 80+ mph if anything wrong? any rush underneath?
If 4 new tires then start from $29k if old start from $28.
