Is there a way to forestall this from ever happening? EG is it the **** itself and the tabs within it? If so, is it easy to pull it off and just put something in the bottom of the **** so that even if the tabs broke, that wouldn't sink down too far? I've seen so much of these that I try to avoid turning the radio on and off at all I just turn the volume down, lmao.

Possibility of newer maps, but that's it.

I just sold my 2013 radio for $280, so that was a nice affordable upgrade.

I just leave the radio on all the time and never push the radio **** in. when I want control on-off by using the volume.

Same here - I never touch the On/Off ****. The radio is always On and I raise or lower the gain with the steering wheel control.

Another similar user here. I control volume from the wheel and if I want quiet time I just mute from the steering wheel by holding down the 'mode' button.

Does this mainly affect the earlier models (2013-2014)? I'm fearful to hit my radio **** on my 2015 after reading all this.

I push my radio button occasionally without a second thought.
It's very unlikely to fail, and if it does, it'll be a fun project.

I ran into this problem today and wound up on this forum looking for solutions. I was able to pull the **** back out using 2 popsicle sticks and a pair of channel locks. You may need to shave the popsicle sticks down with a razor blade but should be able to get one in the top and bottom. I was careful not to squeeze too hard so as not to damage the metal and the **** came right out. I hope this method works for others. (note that channel lock images below were taken after the **** was pulled out)

From memory I modified the cap slightly so it wouldn't happen again, I think I must have used a small spacer.

You are replying to a rather old thread, but maybe this will help others if their volume **** gets stuck...

The best method is to use Gorilla glue or have a PDR guy apply some of his special adhesive used to pull out dents on the **** and pull it back out.

Does the gorilla tape just come off after you pull the **** out? Sounds like the dental floss is the best way?!

When I saw this years ago.

1. Do Not push, slap, or mash, the buttom hard. Use lightly.
2. I take it off every 3-6 months and spray the dial POTS and **** teeth with electroins clean and lube, to Prevent from ever happening.
