Oh man, a monster like GSF is not a wise choice in winter.

What about a winter beater? You could buy a 4WD or AWD vehicle for cheap and use that in the winters. I drove a BMW 545 and 550 in NYC winters with summer tires for 10 years. When the weather got real bad, I used the Pathfinder.

Yeah, a winter beater makes the most sense. Save the GS-F for all other driving conditions.

I also drove a rwd IS for years in Canada with no issues. Get good set of winter tires and call it a day. Only ever got stuck trying to ram it up the driveway without shovelling it..and we're talking with 6+ inches of snow on it. AWD does not make you stop faster!

Real men deal with it. And occasionally wipe out.

You can manage on RWD with good snow tires, and you'll probably be able to get around slowly, but I wouldn't consider it very fun(except when you are aimlessly playing around in an empty parking lot).

I'd dare say that F-sport AWD in Snow has it's own fun if you are daily-ing it. Come out of a turn, mash the gas, kick the tail end out a little bit, then blast off as the AWD puts the power down. The GSF will be a speck in your mirrors in snow conditions.

No question the GSF will be a blast in the summer, but the AWD is a great compromise.

My 2 Canadian cents.

That was even the case w my GS430: snow tires helped, but there were times I wanted to change direction, and the car felt otherwise.
And there were times I wanted to keep going up the hill, and the car felt otherwise.

Is the RWD GS with snow mode on and good winter tires worse than a FWD car (e.g. ES, Avalon, Camry) in winter? Anyone compared the two?

I remember my years with a manual 300ZX here in Ohio. I had another car to drive, but got caught out late one night. It only took an hour of a simple glaze of ice to make me realize how depressed you get when you find yourself stuck in a Wendy's parking lot. The car would not move. Always checked the weather in the winter to make sure that never happened again.

RWD in the snow is more like NWD (no wheel drive).

Buy the GSF and buy or keep a cheap beater car for the winter.

A GS 350 or a GSF does not deserve to be on the road in ****ty north/northeast winter. **** that noise. I'm so glad I no longer have to expose my GS 350 to that crap anymore.
