From what I have been told.

GS-h is identified as 2018 being the last model year and GS (other variants) have 2019 as the last model year.

For the new ES, they are upgrading it to a new engine (getting rid of the 2GR FE) to have 300HP and 261 ft. lb torque. Part of the changes are adding direct injection to the engine, revising the VVT and engine management. So a bit less HP than the current GS.

The new ES is running on the FKS engine right? Same as the current GS and RC 350s? And Camrys and the likes?

yup new FKS engine. That new article is misleading. Nobody disputes the GS won't run its course for the current generation.

The question is to whether or not a new generation would emerge for the US market and ROW, frankly.

Shame on that site for the click baity non-relevant article.

All speculations until Lexus officially confirms. So far we have not seen any test mules and no word from Lexus either.

Ummm....it clearly states in the article that they spoke with Lexus USA...

“The Lexus GS has been an important part of the Lexus line-up since 1993 and we value its role as a sports sedan,” Lexus USA spokesperson Ed Hellwig explained over email. “We will continue to offer the GS in the United States, and will evaluate how best to meet our customers’ needs going forward.”

That sounds like they intend to continue with the GS or there has been no decision to give it the ax, saying it is a important part of the lineup and bringing up it has been with the brand since 1993 is even more evidence they know it is a important car, important segment, and it is unlikely on its deathbed.

There is no way the new ES can take the spot of the GS, there is no way it can compete with a 5 series or E class, the segment is too large and important to have no competitor in any more. They know the weaknesses of the GS by now and it makes more sense to fix them over just giving up.

That’s just it. Lexus USA has very little say in this. They will continue to sell the GS for as long as Lexus Japan lets them. So far Lexus Japan has not confirmed any plans for 5GS.

Question Any Concern Here?

Hello All-
Browsed thru your section and didn't see anything here regarding the "GS Discontinuation News"
At first I read it was only going to be in Europe --- https://carbuzz.com/news/lexus-is-and-gs-could-be-killed-off
Then I read somewhere it would include North America too? ( Spoke with my friend / Local Dealer GM who stated "Yes its going away!")
Then this:...https://lexusenthusiast.com/2018/06/...north-america/

Reason I pose this question, is that my wife wishes to return to the GS after this 2017 RX350 Lease is up. I know I can do it early without penalty. Heck they'd love to get another (4th) car OTD right?
Exactly what are you guys hearing on this subject if I may ask? As a Disabled Vet all I do is Detail our cars, and keep them absolutely pristine all the time.
I truly miss the Artic White GS350 we had for 11 yrs, and now it seems as if they want to beef up the ES and make it their "Go-To Sedan?" - Just cant see an ES F-Sport or even "F"

In a perfect world I'd love to get the GS in it's Final Release (If there is such a thing) and hold onto it forever!
Even as a very happy RCF Owner, adding a GSF to the garage would be awesome, but we totally need the AWD Model for sure.
What does a true Lexus Lover do? Anyone have their Magic Ball they can look into and tell what & when they intend to do something with your wonderful GS Models?

There is definitely a megathread in here somewhere but the net-net of that thread is that everyone knows someone who knows something different, but nobody has a reliable source.

We won't know anything until the moment Lexus decides to let everyone know, unfortunately.

Unfortunately, no definitive answers about the next GS in the US/North American market. If they discontinue the GS for 2019, i'm sure you can get a great deal on it and keep it forever! Here is that merged thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...d-threads.html

Either way, like to get back into the AWD GS with ALL the perfect packages and trimmings!

Ok, so I'm looking for a new car and was asking about the LS, not sure how the salesmen got GS but hey who cares, basically he stated that they were told by Lexus that the GS will stop being made for 2019 and 2018 is the last year for it. The ES is to take its place, I would take this with a grain of salt as I'm not sure if I believe it, but I figured I would pass the info along since people are wondering.

We know the GS F lives on for 2019 so I'm hopeful that means there will be a 2019 GS350. We should know soon.

Correct as they have some 2019 GS-F already which makes me think this is true as usually they bring those 19's in already. Only way it takes longer is when there is a new design.
