Is Lexus killing (discontinuing) the GS Line ? (Merged threads)

Contrary to this, I remember that the 2016 refreshed GS wasn't available until December of 2015 - which some folks were considering to be a very late introduction for the next model year...Lexus has been doing some strange timing related releases for the GS as of late.

If you look at the Lexus site, you'll see it mostly lists 18 models. The RC F is a 2019 model whereas the RC350 still shows 2018, just like the GS.

Dealers want only es since it’s an easier sell for them. Gs my 19 should be out in the next couple of months since golden opportunity event is over since that event is suppose to drain all old MY supply. Sales person I talked to in California when shopping around (I’m in NC) told me he was only getting a few more in for the year and that was it. That’s after he knew I wasn’t going to him for a few extra hundred off. I wouldn’t expect a delayed since it’s not a refresh or remodel year or if it were a remodel we should have seen some mules already.
Do do what I did and just get a new lease, if they come out with a 19 there won’t be anything big that’s different. And if they remodel then your lease will be up after they fix all the kinks in the first couple of years. If they kill it, you have one of the last of its kind

Its not really a collectible like an LFA so it will simply suffer from standard depreciation. The 2016+ GS is a rare bird (i've only seen a handful on the road) and you can get already get a nice, certified 2016 for under $40k...

It should not need to be detuned, The 2nd Gen GS V8 made more power then the LS at the time.

I am no fan of turbo engines. But, you do realize that doing this would put it awfully close to a GSF in performance? Acceleration might also be a bit faster due to the boost. It would need to be retuned to allow for a big enough performance gap between the GS350, or whatever they call it, and the GSF. The numbers after the model designation actually mean nothing these days at Lexus and a lot of other car companies. An IS300 was actually called an IS200T, what it actually is, in 2017 but changed to an IS300 in 2018. Makes absolutely no sense to me. The new LS500 is not an LS500 at all, it's an LS350T in my mind

The odds of the 4GS getting a major engine update in it's final model year are near impossible I'd imagine. This is an old platform initially developed for the 2013 model year with R&D beginning years and years before that. We're already in the era of 2019 model year vehicles. Lexus is likely not spending anymore development money on this platform.

I have seen quite a few LC 500’s in the Atlanta, GA.

I hope not! As first time Lexus owners we're big fans of the GS. We love the car so much we're thinking our next ride will be a LC500. Of course we wouldn't sell the GS350 in order to get the LC, our goal is 250-300k miles from our GS. Considering how reliable our GS has been so far, it should be cake for the car to reach that.
