The next generation CT will be Lexus' first full electric BEV, and in my opinion, the midsize 5GS is being delayed in development to be Lexus' first upmarket full battery powered electric vehicle BEV.
The challenge for me is the value proposition, if I did not value RWD so much over FWD, I’d be driving a ‘19 ES right now instead of the GS. Lease specials with $4K down for the ES and GS are $379 vs $519, and starting MSRPs are $40 and $47K respectively.
Don’t get me wrong, the GS is the best car for me, but a little updating would not hurt.
I don’t mind that Lexus hasn’t announced any planned GS updates yet, because if they did, I’d likely find myself with a case of new car fever....

Normally, the luxury manufacturers stick to a 7 year model cycle.
The 4LS ran for some 11 years and 4 months from July 2006 to November 2017.
Thus, it could be possible that 5GS and 4IS will take longer than the traditional 7 year model cycle before their next generations are released.
Furthermore, I wouldn't be surprized if the next generation platforms were designed so that they can easily be modified into battery powered electric vehicles BEV's...
I wasn't part of this forum back in 2011. However, was there such speculation about no '12 or '13 GS back in 2011 similar to how we are all wondering about a 2020 or 2021 GS? Or was Lexus more open about their plans and everyone knew another car was coming out after the 2011 3GS?
From what I've seen, the 4GS was teased in August of 2011 and available in early 2012 as a 2013. Could history also repeat itself 7+ years later with an upcoming 2021 GS available in 2020??

Not really but hey that could be possible, maybe lexus is finally planning to make a coupe which would be nice for the GS, with some more power.
It disappoints me to see nothing has gained any traction about future GS plans. The tesla effect (model 3 and Y) has caused market disruptions for german cars and any car priced higher than $50k. Who knows if it causing some 'market reevaluation' whether they can do a better all around GS sedan for another 125k production run over 7-8 years.
A lot has changed in 7-8 years and if Lexus is still struggling with car infotainment issues -- there's no sense in shooting their foot again over a non-competitive car to satisfy sales of 5-15 k units per year.
The big push of major upgrades has been done over the past few years... UX/LS/ES -- They got the flagship updated and much better ES model. It would not surprise me to see Lexus try to maintain the sales momentum for ES with AWD and Fsport variants. What is quickly becoming 'dated' are the RX/GX/GS. The sales numbers would indicate they need to take care of making the RX relevant again before the GS needs are accommodated. Sales volume is going to determine the market priorities. I see it in the following order RX GX (and possibly updating the NX) before they touch anything GS related.
If you cant create a sexy car to rival the Stinger or G70 or updated 3/4 series or A4/A6 -- they're better off focusing on the SUV space as first priority, and see if a sedan variant is feasible with 75% of the parts. Long story short, don't hold your breath on an updated GS anytime soon. If they do a surprise, hopefully it could fix the most glaring issue with the car (a tweak in interior design with everything else being the same to provide better infotainment w carplay).

Nope, I just got one today too for my old RC that I already traded in for the GS. I think this is just a 3rd party stuff.
