Can we please stop with the click-baity threads that just end up being a bunch of speculations and opinions? What is this...YouTube?
The only official thing about this thread is that we are pretty good at guessing. In meantime, go out and enjoy driving your GS....whether it's gone or not.

Yeah unfortunately the problem is not enough people are choosing the GS.
In 2018 BMW sold almost 44K 5 series.

In the same year the GS sold 6.6K

And the E series sold 45K

Between those 3 cars only 6% of people go with the GS.

If Lexus gave the current GS a affordable engine upgrade with around 400-420hp it would have made a big difference in sales and perception. As it is now, most buyers just don't see the premium as worth it over a ES which is now making basically the same power as the GS.

Those large sales differences are mostly attributed to the fact that the BMW and Mercedes are on a totally new generation of cars and engines while the GS is stuck in the same basic car/engine from 2012, actually the engine dates back to around 2007 for the GS. Of course the GS will not get much sales when they have not given the GS any real meaningful update in 8 years, especially with the V6 only making 306-311hp while its competitors are at 350hp+ and much quicker. BMW's and Mercedes are more prestigious brands too.

I agree 110%. I had that motor in my 2007 GS350. As a matter of fact, the 6 speed actually felt and performed way better in that chasis as well. This 8 speed is total crap. Slower and definitely not better on gas in the real world. Screw the magazine numbers. I have had both cars with both transmissions. Older one pulls nicer.

I know that guy and he told me I get first dibs on the new fully redesigned 2021 GS in the country. Can't say who he is because he'd have to kill me. He does work for Lexus though. The only thing I can say is that it will have 800HP on the F Sport model. You guys must believe me!

I first test drove a 2016 or 2017 GS350 and it was the first I'd driven. I thought it was rather sluggish coming from a V6 Camry. In fact it drove a lot like the Camry. The Camry has a good engine but it always wants to upshift and won't hold gears and also won't shift quickly when putting your foot down. Anyway, I was not impressed with how that GS350 drove. I then drove - the one I ended up buying - a 2013 with the 6 speed and that was what I expected. It was responsive and a notiecable improvement over the Camry. Now, I don't know that I was aware of Sport Mode and had I put the 8 speed in Sport it might have been better but in Normal it was ho-hum.

I had the same experience, 2016 felt really sluggish, like it was only making 270hp or so, I remember asking the salesman if it was in some kind of aggressive economy mode or if it was the 4cyl when I test drove it,it turned me off, my GS430 felt so much quicker and refreshing to drive. When I test drove my 2014 GS350awd it felt noticeably stronger, about on par with my GS430 when I gave it more gas, much more satisfying then the 2016+ I test drove. They tuned the 2016+ to get better fuel economy and it hurt acceleration, it doesn't even get much better fuel economy looking at the numbers and reports.
My 15 AWD and my 19 AWD don't feel any different in acceleration, but both have the 6 speed. The RWD with the 8 speed (2014-2020) definitely feels different than the 2013 RWD with the 6 speed.
