Battery Replacement - Cold Weather Package battery?
I've been having issues with my battery and after getting it checked this weekend, the battery had no ability to hold a charge. Basically, the original battery lasted 5+ years and 52k miles.
When the battery was removed, it was a Panasonic Battery made in Japan and had a rating of 560 Cold Cranking Amps. I also have the Cold Weather Package and when I mentioned this to my service advisor at Lexus, he said there isn't a "heavy duty" battery that is specific to the Cold Weather Package (that only the LS has something more heavy duty based on that package).
He quoted me a price of $175 for a new battery with a 84month prorated warranty. After reading some issues folks have had with the Lexus warranty on batteries on the forum, I decided to do the replacement locally after getting a quote of $137 from my local guy for a Delphi 720 Cold Cranking Amp heavy duty battery with a 3.5 year full replacement warranty; prorated thereafter for 3 additional years.
Anyone else have to change their OEM battery on their 4GS? Any idea if there is such a thing as "heavy duty" battery that is part of the Cold Weather Package? The battery I put in was physically heavier and had a higher CCA rating which I believe would be considered a more "heavy duty" battery than the stock OEM...

I had a similar issue with the original battery only on a 2014 GS350 with 12K miles. Car sat in the garage for 2 weeks, warm weather and died. Took it to the dealership after putting it on a charger for a couple hours and drove across town.....they tested the battery good. I took the car to Interstate and they tested this 560 CCA rated battery at 400CCA. I replaced it with a 850CCA Interstate and asked how long this battery would last in storage. They said probably 6 months. I called Lexus Customer Satisfaction and they eventually reimbursed the cost of replacement.

My 2013 has 75k still on the original Panasonic battery.
It needed water when I bought it at 72k, though. So few cars have refillable wet cells, I fear they are seldom properly cared for.
I did manage to drain it one day while playing with the nav system for an extended period without the car running, so I am fully prepared to discover that I need a new battery this winter.

I have a Lexus GX470 and have bought the battery from the Lexus dealer that is 84 months. They are prorated where first 24 months if it goes bad they will give you a new one after 24-48 months you will pay 50%. This does not include labor to install the battery. In my experience these batteries are worthless. They don't last anywhere near the 84 months. The two I have got have not lasted more than 34 months. I would not recommend buy the Lexus battery

Isn't that Panasonic battery like $2k? Maybe not that high but the cost is truly incredible.
