Just leased a ‘17 gs350 - drove off lot and radio power works but no sound. No bluetooth or xm sounds at all. Drove right back to dealership and theyre saying its either amp or rear speaker. Cant believe i didnt check audio during test drive. Has anyone had similar issue? (Standard audio - not mark l)

On another note, were you able to get a good deal on your lease?

Seems bad audio amps are an issue with old and new cars. Is there a recall or class action suit to have dealerships pay for replacements??

Its definitely the amp sounds like water leaked into the compartment where the amp is located. There are a few threads on this, amp is on the right hand side of the trunk under the tools.

Yes like YaMomma said water in the trunk near the wheel arch has been an issue with some 4GS's, few members took their car in and one member the dealer diagnosed it as a gap in a weld(or pinch weld) inside the wheel arch
Only way to know for sure is to remove your amp from the right side of the trunk(4 bolts, few plugs) and check for any water underneath. Good time to check is after driving in the rain. if there is any water your amp is defiantly fried and you would want to find and fix the leak and replace the amp with a used one.

To satisfy BCLexus, I did some research on my problem I had this morning. No sound whatsoever on any input from the stereo. So the amp may be fried? Like without warning? Could it be something else like a simple fuse? Any other trouble shooting I can do? Seriously have never heard of an amp just stop working. Not like I am playing some Deep Bass at extreme levels and blew the speakers. If it is the amp, just replace with a used one, or does someone have recommendations for better ones? Thanks.

Read a little more on here. I will need to check for water. Disconnect and reconnect it. See if it is getting power. Basically troubleshoot it. I also read, that I could go out and start it, and it may magically work. That is what I am hoping that it is just a loose connection somehow, and not a blown or malfunctioning amplifier. The car has gone through the two Hurricanes here, so not unlikely with the rain that it may have gotten wet. Will report findings of course. Thanks.

Well of course when I started the car up tonight leaving from work, the radio worked fine. It was dark, so will have to wait to see if there is any water intrusion. Guess I should be glad it works so I know it is not blown.

Checked the amp this morning (visual inspection), did not unbolt anything since it worked last night driving home. No dampness or water or signs of any water intrusion, which is good. I guess I will just have to monitor it to see if it reoccurs again. How can such a small piece of electronics cost so much money? I have had three strange car items happen since Sunday. First, wife’s Acura RDX TPMS system error message goes on. Tire pressures ok. She drives like that for two days, now the message is off. All I did was try to reset the message a couple of times to no avail. Yes, the pressure is ok in all four tires as well. Second, son’s Honda CRV would not start at gas station after filling up. I go there and it starts right up 15 minutes later. Has been starting fine the past three days. Then my issue yesterday morning with the ML audio no sound. Then it works fine last night. Someone/something is messing with me
. Last item, I saw another GS 450h in Orlando, FL. Like the first one I have ever seen here. I may sell my car now since I am not so unique……

I hope to not find out how expensive the parts are. Guess I can go without sound if it comes to that. At least it doesn’t look too hard to change out. Damn, I remember replacing an AM/FM car stereo with a cassette player radio in one of my first cars, and running wires to the back speakers for like $100. Sounded great to me and was an upgrade over the center speaker in the front dash. Nowadays, well cars are just so complicated it seems with the whiz bang stuff. Just get in and drive.
