MPG between 14.0 and 15.0, is this normal ?
Hi All,
I own 2014 GS RWD. I use it for my daily commute to work. LA traffic is really bad, it is stop and go. I am getting MPG between 14 and 15. Is this normal MPG i should expect ?
Thanks.

Since I'm based in the U.K. and live in the countryside my driving conditions are quite different, but even in very short journeys (4 miles) I'm getting 41mpg in a GS300h RWD. Our gallon is slightly larger but not that much. On 2 longer runs in my first 2 weeks I was getting 50+.

As for you, nmlexus4gs, stop and go traffic will murder your fuel mileage. What you're getting doesn't surprise me with LA traffic.

DTLA + Stop/Go kills MPG.
Even my friends 2.5L 4cyl Camry averages 16mpg with DT traffic in LA.

My buddy and I both have 2015 F sports - our mileage figures also suck. 14-16 is normal in stop and go - don't expect to see any mileage in the 20s unless you drive (non clogged) freeways frequently or are a grandma on the gas (or both)

I consistently get 25-26 mpg, 100% in town, no highway driving, with my 2013 GS350 F-Sport RWD. Tucson is not LA, however.

The key to getting good mileage with our GS is simple - don't come to a standstill, try to keep the car rolling even at a slow crawl will make a huge difference. You don't have to drive like granny and still have fun punching the gas and you'd still get better mileage than being in stop-and-go traffic. What you can do is try to keep more distance from the car in front of you, look farther ahead and anticipate other vehicles and time traffic light changes.

The GS gets the worse gas mileage of any car I have ever owned, including V8's. It is surprisingly bad, considering how low the engine rev's with the 8 speed trans when cruising.

Oh yes, since ur in LA 14-15 is normal. 17 on a good day. My old GS MPG was the same and now my RC is exactly the same.
Only difference is my RC has the active sound control that makes it sound like a V8 on the inside.
