Unless you're lowered I don't see why there should be any problem since there's plenty of clearance. Make sure to get quick-install type chains and practice at least once before heading out.

I am. But I'm more concerned with scratching/damaging the wheels.

Ah, well that's always a concern. There are "chains" that are less likely to scratch though like these but I've not used them before. They're supposed to outperform regular chains too:
Sacramento. Its warm here today. But I usually go up to Northstar a few times a month. Just booked a cabin for January, so I'm planing ahead.
I'm from Sacramento too.. I wouldn't take GS up to Tahoe, especially on i80, my previous car had front bumper & hood basically destroyed with rock chips due to salt & send they dump on road. Plus I doubt we get tons of snow on upcoming season.
FYI.. I'm skiing every Saturday, I went ahead and bought separate set of used wheels & put used snow tires on that I got from CL, cost me total about $650, used them for 4 seasons. Typically on Friday night it takes me 30 mins to swap wheels if snow storm predicted. Used to do it when I had my 2011 Acura TL SH-AWD 6MT. Definitely not taking my RWD GS though.
