That would be great. I'd like to know.

Hi,
Please take a look at this video. Was this the same rattle that you were having? It's just hard to believe that a new seal could resolve this issue. I guess it's possible that the new seal creates a better and tighter fit when the sunroof is closed. It would then place additional pressure on the assembly therefore removing the rattle that I described in the video.

Thanks

if you drive with the sunroof fully open and no longer have the noise, the new seal will fix it. thats the test.

When the sunroof is open or tilted up I don't hear any rattling.
Thanks, I'll take it to the dealership and ask them to replace the seal.

Could be the seal. From your video I am thinking maybe it could also be that one or some of the torx screws that attach the glass to the mechanism could be loose. There are four screws, one for each corner of the glass. One is clearly visible to the left of where you point in your video.

Mine wasn't as bad as this; it was movable in only a single corner. More subtle, so easier for the dealer to try and get out of repairing.I would suggest gambling the $42 bucks or so for a gasket. It may also need an adjustment, which mine did not. Best of luck!

Amazing to hear how a new seal can quiet down the sunroof. Is there any noticeable difference of the new seal?

Not sure what to say - it definitely solved my problem, as it has for others. Of course, your issue may be different, and your mileage may vary...IMHO, it's definitely worth $42 and and less than 5 minutes to try and solve this annoying problem on your own.

Does the new seal need any adhesive or lubrication applied to it?

None whatsoever. Tilt the roof up, slip the old gasket off, install new gasket. All by hand. It is NOT necessary to remove any screw or the roof itself.

Sorry, I should have said that applying some silicone spray to the rubber before installation makes it goes on a bit more easily. Other than that, it's an easy job.

Thanks to all contributors. I purchased the part from a link posted earlier in the thread, and i installed it this morning with no issues. For those of you who arent mechanically inclined, this is an easy job - dont be afraid to try it if you're experiencing the 'rattle' issue. Im always afraid to try the DIY's posted on this site, so this took me about 10 minutes to complete because i was being careful as i peeled the old gasket off. Im pretty sure this can be done in 5 minutes like one of the other posters said.

Good luck!

I notice some slight rattling clunking when I side the roof portion back just to look out the sunroof but it basically goes away once I slide the cover back over it.

Took me about an hour to carefully get the new seal in. Peeling the old one was easy. Trying to get the front and side (pinch points) of the new one onto the edge was not.
Hopefully the rattle/clunk issue is resolved.

Clunks and rattle noises are gone. I realized that i placed the indentation towards the front. Does this matter or do i need to ensure that it's towards the back?
