Default S-Flow

I want to confirm the way S-Flow works, before I take it into the dealer. 2014 GS w/Lux Pkg. I believe I have an issue. With the S-Flow indicator light on, and the passenger front seat unoccupied, should seat ventilation/heater be on?
I believe I recall that with S-Flow and un-occupied, the seat heater would not be on nor would the passenger side dual control temp be on. Although it appears the passenger side dual control is off, the seat warmer/cooler is on.

I have 48500 Miles so want to take it in before the warranty expires.

I just went out to my 14lux package and both the passenger seat heater/cooler and temp control goes off when I toggle s flow on and off.

when you say temp control.. do you mean your passenger temp control display goes off? Like the digital "77" degrees on the right side goes blank?

Just to be sure, this is when the passenger seat is unoccupied.

S-flow doesn't do anything with the ventilated seats or heaters. Just climate control.

The early 4th Gen GS's didn't have "auto" heated/cooled seats.
Check your 2014 controls, if you only have three (3) heat lights and
three (3) cooling lights then it's not auto. If you have a seventh light
way out in front then you do and it will follow the S-Flow control
and turn the seat off. Be sure that you actually have the "auto"
light illuminated.

Found this on the Lexus site in the 2014 GS Owners Manual. From pg 582.

"Automatic operation during S-FLOW mode
The front seat heater and ventilator or the rear seat heater may automatically turn off
when S-FLOW mode is turned on during automatic mode. (P. 363)"

This is my understanding. The first sign of the issue was with someone in the passenger seat, S-Flow on and the Passenger temperature was not on. Happened once. Now with passenger seat empty, S-Flow on and in AUTO mode, the seat heater/ventilators remains on.

Perhaps the weight sensor in the passenger seat is not working correctly? That would be my guess, anyway.

The passenger temp display going blank during S-Flow with the front seat unoccupied must be a luxury package thing. It is not that way on my F Sport. So without rear AC, as in the F Sport, S-Flow keeps air flowing to both front seats and reduces air to the rear seat, but with the rear AC, it will turn off the front passenger seat air if it's unoccupied. Learned something new today! From the owners manual for my 2015 on page 315:

Operates S-FLOW mode on/off.
When the S-FLOW mode button is
pressed, the airflow changes as follows.
Without rear air conditioning system:
Air flows to the front seats only.*
With rear air conditioning system:
Air flows to the front seats only, and if
the passenger seat is unoccupied, the
set temperature, outside humidity and
temperature inside the cabin are
assessed, and air flows to the driver
seat only.*
*: Air may also flow to the rear seats
depending on the situation.

OP here. I canceled my service appointment. When sitting in driver seat with S-Flow and passenger seat empty, the Passenger temp control was off while the passenger seat heater lights were on. HVAC was in Auto mode, seat heater was 2 lights. Hit the S-Flow on and off, no impact to seat heaters. So I go and sit in the passenger seat, the temp control turns on and as said, seat heater on.
1. I turn the seat heater off, then turn the S-Flow off.
2. I turn S-Flow on (seat heater still off), and then turn seat heater on to power of 2.
3. I get out of the car and both the temp and seat heat turn off.
4. Now in the Driver seat, the passenger seat heat and temp still off while S-Flow on. I turn S-Flow off, the pass. temp goes on, and seat heat resumes at 2.
5. S-Flow on, and both temp and seat go off.

So now it is working as I remember.

Note: if S-Flow is on, passenger seat empty, turn seat heater on will activate. Cycling S-Flow off then On, the seat heater will be off.

What exactly is the use of S-flow? I know the idea behind it, but what do we gain when sing S-flow?
