My case has been settled but I did sign an NDA, so, sorry cannot provide any details.

The depo started at 10 am. We should have been done by noon, maybe 1 pm tops with the *relevant* questions. When you have an attorney paid hourly, anything goes! He would regurgitate the same questions over and over and eventually started asking things that seemingly only fit the purpose of dragging it out (i.e. makes, models and trim levels of all cars in my family going back about 30 years just to give you one example). Clearly, he had no concern about not getting paid by Lexus as his is one of the two firms that represent Toyota/Lexus in lemon law claims. Finished at 5 pm on the nose.

Exclamation

And now this car is available for sale as a CPO for $32,991 (non-negotiable!) or about $500 less than my optional buyout. Which means that the dealer must have bought it from Lexus for somewhere in the mid to high 20s range ($26-27K?) to make a profit on it. Not that I would ever buy this particular car out, but it sucks that a lessee does not get a chance to buy it at anywhere close to what the dealers pay for those.

From what I was told, it costs $2,000-2,500 to certify a GS350, about $1,000 on the new Continental tires and probably alignment, another ~$1,000 to fix curb rash, bumper dings (none were chargeable to me though per AutoVIN), detail, etc. And, shockingly, I am not seeing any mention about whacky steering that may kill ya!

Was this suspected to be a momentary loss in power steering assistance?

No, it was total loss of steering at freeway speeds.

I've heard of this happening on recent cars with electric steering, people claim that the steering stops working. It's still connected, it just feels like it's not working because the assistance fails. At least it reset whilst driving, the examples I've heard of had to have the car switched off and on again to fix it.

If you're ever at the track, disable the electric power steering and see how hard it is to drive!

Default This issue happens with almost all the newer cars!!!

Yes this is a common issue with newer cars, my fiancées brother has a 2013 BMW 535 xi and has the same issue. If you research this issue it’s happening with Audi and Mercedes-Benz as well just google steering wheel issues and whatever car brand and you’ll see it’s a lot more common than you’d think. So for the people saying they’re leaving Lexus for something else you’ll most likely come across the same problem if it’s a newer car. Good luck guys!

Moved on to Audi, BMW and Benz since. All have advanced driver assist packages on par or better than in the GS. Haven't experienced anything remotely close to that loss of steering ever since. And, yes, still using the same dash cam. The joke now is on Lexus losing a loyal long term customer.

Yeah that's a random problem none of use have experienced with Lexus, probably something happened to that car prior to your ownership, idk.

107k miles on my 2013 GS 450h and no issues, other than replacing the sunroof seal, car's been rock solid reliable. Goal 232,505 mile, that's what I sold my 1998 Honda Accord at

I can only imagine the repair bills, Audi, Benz, BMW would have to even reach 107k miles, 200k forget about it, lol.

Only keep cars for a few years while under warranty, so that's a lot of missed sales for Lexus. You are also missing my main point that Lexus did not GAF about our safety. They were trying to save a couple pennies here and there while spending thousands (over $10K?) on defense attorneys. Money talks!

Lastly, there are others with same or similar steering problems. Clearly not a common problem but not unique either.

I think it's only OP's car. There has to be more to the story than he knows or we're being told. At this point he's only here to bash Lexus.

well he did say there are others with steering problems so he might be able to say what years.

it’s just interesting that he signed a NDA but if it’s more than a random fault then I think forum members should hear about it as it’s a safety issue.

It’s not. I posted about it in the other steering thread. It’s happening to my 16H.
