The HUD was the main option I wanted with other options on my GS. I made sure that in addition to the Lux options and ML that I got the HUD. Nice to see the info up on the windshield.

Im definitely never making that mistake again of buying a car without one!
I cut the synthetic leather with a blade and removed that first before cutting the hole. Honestly you don't need the hud windshield, it still very clear while driving. It doesn't matter how sexy the hole is, the plastic trim piece covers it up.

I started just cutting through the leather with the dremel but then realized that was a horrible idea so I took a razor to it first and did the same as you and removed that piece of leather. Then piece by piece I cut and removed all the plastic. I did end up cutting all the tabs off the plastic trim piece and just kinda wedged it in there. It stays in place and doesn’t move around. I’ll eventually adhere it with glue or something but for now it’s fine and I may even touch up the edges of the hole yet. Eventually I will probably get a new windshield but like you said it’s pretty clear and I can read it just fine.

So whats your next mod? 2016+ full screen navigation is plug and play on the 2015 GS, just need the screen and the head unit. Then you can get full screen android auto or apple carplay with Carlinkit, Beatsonic, or Grom.

This mod has been on my list for some years now. Quick question, if you front windshield is tinted (mine is 75%) will that help with the double imaging?

Not sure if it makes it any better or worse.

That is most likely the next thing I’m gonna do. I already bought a 2016+ screen but not a radio yet as i haven’t found one for a reasonable price. However there is one on eBay I might be able to talk the seller down to like $850 which isn’t terrible considering most junkyards are trying to sell them for like $2-3k. I have the grom currently and I definitely want to go full screen with it so I’ll probably get a head unit soon.

Does anyone else’s HUD go dark when going under a bridge or through a tunnel? I’ve noticed this lately but it’s not a big deal cause it comes back. Just was curious if this is a common thing or something is wrong with the HUD I bought. Also I don’t have radio volume or stations appearing on the HUD when I change it. There is an option to display audio in the menu for the HUD but it’s already on. Im thinking this may be due to the fact my car is a 2015 and the unit is a 2013.

Default Color Heads Up Display!!

Just picked up this hard to find 2015 color heads up display to replace the 2013 single color unit I installed a while back. Installed it tonight and it looks better than the other one for sure. Display is larger and numbers/letters show better. Only issue I ran into is the junkyard that sold me the unit didn’t include the wire harness for this one so I had to re pin my current harness so that I could control it as when I first plugged it in all that showed up was “km/h” and no matter what buttons i pressed nothing happened. All is well now after switching some wires around. Also If anyone is interested I’ll be selling my 2013 hud soon.

wow nice super rare. I’ve been off clublexus for a while now because of expanding family but this just makes me want to get a color HUD and mod my 450h again.

Whats the part number for the color hud? It was blurry in your pic.

Totally get that man. Family comes first though. But yeah I was searching car-part.com and saw a 2015 GS350 come up and it had the hud so I messaged them right away and sent payment over. There’s one listed on there that’s a 2015 in Canada and it should work no issue with yours. Mph/kmh is determined by the gauge cluster.

Part number for the 2015 hud is 83108-30160. But also 83108-30130 is color that was installed in many 2014 GS models. Whatever is cheaper is what I’d buy lol as they are identical.
