alright I’m putting together a cart on myL parts.

What cable is it I need? I thought the cable plugged into the cluster; where does it plug.

Plugs into a harness that comes from near the backside of the 12.3" display. If you go back through the thread you will see a pic of it.

So far I have:

HUD Trim:
https://www.mylparts.com/oem-parts/l...bC12Ni1nYXM%3D

HUD Cluster Panel:
https://www.mylparts.com/oem-parts/l...MtNWwtdjYtZ2Fz

HUD Cluster Panel Buttons:
https://www.mylparts.com/oem-parts/l...MtNWwtdjYtZ2Fz

HUD Upper Bracket
https://www.mylparts.com/oem-parts/l...bC12Ni1nYXM%3D

HUD Lower Bracket
https://www.mylparts.com/oem-parts/l...bC12Ni1nYXM%3D

The parts I can't hunt down are the following:
- HUD Wiring That plugs into hud itself
- HUD Wiring that plugs into the switches
- HUD Brackets - Could you check the above to see if they're correct?

Mind helping a noobie out ?

Thanks!!

Here are part numbers for brackets for the HUD:
https://www.ilcats.ru/lexus/?functio...=2&language=en

Here is the wire, also in the diagram you can see were it plugs into:
8214930130
https://www.ilcats.ru/lexus/?functio...=3&language=en

The wiring for the switches is already on an existing harness in your car, secured with green tape behind were the switches go.

HUD Upper Bracket

HUD Lower Bracket

HUD Wire to head unit

Finally: How the hell did you know WHERE to cut? That's something that just dawned on me.

Had a member(who bought the upper dash trim) trace a template for me, I transferred that to cardboard, and made the cut, The cut doesn't have to be perfect since the trim covers it. I ended up making the hole bigger than the template to get the trim to fit correctly. I threw out my original template after holding on to it for a while.

Throw me like $15 and I can take the top trim off my dash, and trace the opening for you on paper. Using the speaker grills on both side to line it up.

Awesome! Will do; can you PM me your PayPal?

did the part numbers above look right? Last piece I’m worried about is the HUD itself. I see a 2013 HUD on eBay but I’m not sure that will work in my car.

thnks!

Yeah those part numbers look right.
I'm not sure if 2013 will work on 2018. $220 for the HUD is a good price though.Might be worth the try, seller has a 30 day return policy. They have been trying to sell it for over a year. It was $400 when I tried to buy it, but they didn't want my offer. I ended up getting one for about the price it's listed now.

thanks,
I just offered him. He would take 200 shipped. not sure if I want to gamble it.

also; do I need the “mirror” or whatever that part is on the top of the HUD that you linked from the part site or is that included on the HUD units?

That cover is already on the ebay hud. I'll send the template by tomorrow.

Thanks a bunch.
Was it all plug n play? I’m worried it won’t be pre programmed for my car. I came from the BMW world where everything needs to be programmed.

is there any sort of indication the HUD was turned on? I ordered all of the parts minus the HUD itself. I’m going to try to buy that cheaper used. Does it pop up on screen or anything nothing the HUD was turned on?

do we know if anyone has had to? Or done this later than 2013 MY?

Yes, no programing

As soon as everything is plugged in and you turn it on the mph is projected on the windshield.
use the buttons to turn up the brightness or move position.

@eddie420 installed the 2013 HUD on his 2015, no issues.

This might be a lot to ask but any chance that you could document your installation process? I’d want to perform this mod one day, but would love to have a whole step by step process on how it’s done
