Default Permanent DTC

Anyone know what I need to do to clear the permanent DTC? I fixed the confirmed CEL and no longer have any pending codes. But for some reason I’m unable to clear the permanent DTC. Appreciate if someone could help.

I have some codes sitting in ECU too which I'm not able to clear with any app, I guess you need real tool that used by mechanics or dealer to clear them up.

i did a little research, permanent DTC is not something you can clear using OBD2 scanner. I think the codes will go away once I satisfy the drive cycle

It's been over the year and my codes did not clear. I spoke to one of the mechanics, he said they won't go away unless you use right tools to erase them (referring to perm codes)

I remember that code from my other vehicle Toyota Sienna. P0171 & P0174.

Those are system vacuum leak.

Mine was from air cleaner box. I had them removed to change filter and I guess I forgot to tighten the hose.

If P0171 & P0174 are both stored, the chance will be an air intake leak.

yeah, I fixed the intake leak. But for some reason, I still have permanent DTC that I’m unable to clear.

I have Toyota's Techstream software that will clear/erase them. But Why?
My Scangauge will say that they are cleared but the history of them is still in the ECU unless I erase them with Techstream.
What software are you using?

Question is...If you don't have a CEL, why does it matter if it's stored in your ECU? Those are stored in there for future reference in case it's a recurring problem and there's a history to help mechanics trouble shoot. It doesn't mean you have the problem now.

Like Fight Club The first rule of Techstream is we don't talk about Techstream
