He said if it had more miles on it they probably would not replace parts, like 10,000 or something which makes sense. It's obviously not a factory defect but, if they're nice enough to replace, I won't complain.
If it were mine I wouldn't bother unless the pedal pulsates or the car pulls to one side while braking. It will happen again unless you use softer brake pads, which WILL compromise stopping capacity. They might turn them to get it smooth but that's going to sacrifice functional metal for aesthetics.

Don't want them to turn my rotor since the car only has 1100 miles on it. Other rotors are not grooved yet so I'll let them give me a new rotor if they are inclined to do so.

Glad to hear the dealer tech would suggest the dealer fix it under warranty. It could have been a small chunk of something like quartz which is fairly hard and has a pyramid molecular structure which could resist crushing enough to do some damage. There are other very hard minerals that may withstand the heat/pressure for long enough to do damage and potentially bond itself to the softer pad material.

Hopefully the SM will say yes to the fix.

And as a bonus you got to drive it!!

Dealer is replacing pads & rotor. So far, I've had pretty good luck with my local dealer for service. I'm able to request a certain tech who works there who's extremely careful with my 2 cars I bring in. That's a big deal to me that he respects my equipment. I was pretty amazed looking at other customers cars waiting for service. You can tell who takes care of their cars and who doesn't.
