Default F Sport brakes?

Hi all, sorry if this topic has been covered, but I’m looking at a 14 with F Spot package right now and remember my mechanic saying something about their brakes being expensive or problematic? He’s not in the shop today, so can’t ask. Anyone have any insight as to what I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance.

The F-Sport's brakes most definitely are more problematic than the non-F-Sport brakes. Squealing is often a problem as well as brake dust complaints, and the pads/rotors wear much quicker. The OE two-piece rotors are expensive and can cause headaches too. You'll find many F-Sport owners wanting to replace their OE brake pads to cut down on dust and/or squealing. These issues are not any different from other 'performance' brakes on other vehicles. It's just the price one pays for higher performance, but sadly many people didn't know the ramifications before they purchased the car. They probably don't realize that a 'real' purpose-built performance car would have brake squeal so loud it could be heard from ½ mile away.

Remember that RWD and AWD F Sport brakes are not the same. Assume you’re talking about RWD?

Yes, looking at RWD only at this point.

What is the difference between RWD & AWD F-Sport brakes? The tech at the dealer the other day did mention in passing something being different between the two, but didn't catch exactly what he said about them. I was going to go to the wider 9 inch wheel for the front on my RWD so I could rotate but, the rear wheel doesn't clear the front caliper. So it looks like I'll have to live with the staggered set up.

RWD F-Sport models have larger brakes in the front than their AWD counterparts. You guys also have staggered wheels (2 different sizes) AWD is all the same size...

Correct. The RWD F Sport models also have different pads.

Theres nothing out there for the FSport RWD. i ended up just going with OEM pads and rotors and did the work myself.

The fronts sure are nasty on my RWD. Inside the wheels and calipers are just covered in brake dust. Definetly gonna try the Akebono pads first chance I get.

Are the factory brakes on the RWD metallic pads? I'm assuming I replace with ceramic pads?
