Yep. Just noticed that. Thanks. One of the spec pages only listed 2015.

I just emailed them if it supports Android Auto as well, so as not needing to do a hotspot from my phone and getting notifications that I would receive.

From GROM:The VLine is a standalone Android system. We are working on having Android Auto and CarPlay certified to be implemented in the device. Since it is a standalone Android system, you may download any Apps from the Google Play Store.

It does look like you could get a data-only plan have it run off of that as well. This looks really nice, better than any other solution I've seen before, I'm tempted to spring for it.

I don't think it has cell built-in since they sell a USB powered hotspot (but only works with tmobile). I suppose you could get any hotspot that would be compatible with whatever carrier you have. Also, don't know how much data would be used for streaming and navigation with this device, since data only plans look to be limited data cap.

It doesn't have cell built-in but you can use an USB one. Or just tether, that works too. It's just neat that it can be all self-contained.

I'm in Canada so the best data-only plan I can get is $15 for 3GB. It's pretty ugly up here.

Looking at the install guide it looks like it has a separate USB dongle you have to mount on the dash, looks ugly to me, im the kind of guy that wants to hide everything.

And since the price is the same between the Chinese headunit with touch and GROM(looks like the Aliexpress one is even chepaer?) wouldn't it make more sense to go for the Aliexpress one since that one is cheaper and has touchscreen? The installation of the GROM also needs you to take apart basically everything(similar to beatsonic and theres a video up on disassembly)

Default Beat-sonic Android Auto /Carplay kit

Is this the droids you are looking for? Just released and soon to go on sale. Uses existing lexus screen, trackpad, steering wheel controls and microphone. Website says out of stock for now.

I have since purchased it and installed it on my LS460. Can't purchase through their website but I'm part of their email list and they had limited units available for sale so they invoiced me. Their customer support is excellent.
