Default Hit pothole

I hit a pothole after only having my new car a week. I knicked the tire and I can feel I the rim is lightly flattened near the edge. Not sure if I should bring it to the dealer if I don't feel any vibrations or pulling in the steering wheel. My steering wheel looks straight.

Is this just a public proclamation that you hit a pothole, or is there a question in there somewhere that I missed?

When in doubt, you should let the dealer look at it.

Man, people like you must love giving away your hard earned money. The dealer for a potentially bent wheel? You can get that checked out at numerous other places! Or find an indy? Dealer labor rates are insane...

OP: If you're uncomfortable with how it feels after you hit the pothole, take it to a reputable local wheel/tire shop. They will be able to tell you if the wheel has any hops or skips and recommend a straightening if needed. If it is bent, you can have it repaired for around $75.

sometimes you just lightly bend the outer lip which has no bearing on the tire sealing which sounds like the case here. the OE wheels are VERY strong so bending them takes a lot of force.

if it bothers you I would have a reputable shop do a quick alignment check to see if all is well, check the balance of the wheel, and inspect the strike point for any fatigue on the wheel/tire.

Letting the dealer look at something for an opinion (hopefully informed because they will be providing it on paper and hence on record) does not mean the parts have to be purchased or the work has to be done at the dealership. The dealership is providing just an informed opinion, nothing more. And it is free!

Had a similar situation but my wheel was actually bent and steering would shake, 60$ later this company refurbished the rim with the matching factory color. Problem solved. Yeah my alignment got out also. As everyone suggested dealer will try to charge arm and leg for something similar. Even though my car was under warranty and SA being my friend I didn't even think about going to the dealer.
