Default Switching out stock puddle lights to LED

Good evening all,

I just got a '13 GS-F in December, and have been installing some minor mods ever since I got it. I've switched out most of the interior lights to LED, but the only ones that remain are the puddle lights. I can't for the life of me remove the mirrors to access the screws and ultimately the housing holding the light. I've read the DIY guide here and have watched a couple YouTube videos on the matter, but still the mirror won't budge.

Is there an easier way to remove the mirror? I flip out the side mirror backwards to be able to work with it, then push the top of the mirror in to be able to slide my fingers in to try and pop it off, but it still won't come off. I used quite a bit of force, i'm afraid if I use any more force it'll snap in two. The YouTube videos seems like they used no force at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is no other way, use both hands, get as much of your fingers under the mirror as you can. Don't know where you live, but when working with plastic parts, it's better to do it on a warm day in the sun so they are more flexible.

The ones on Youtube have been removed probably 100's of times, that's why they are so loose..

Another tip: when you put it back together, put some lube on the 4 white plastic tabs. It will make it much easier to get all the tabs locked back in place.

Appreciate it, I did use two hands. It was about 50ish degrees yesterday and it had like 0 give. I'll try it again on my day off. I even tried to pry around in there with a towel-wrapped screwdriver to see if I could accidentally hit one of the tabs.

Borrow the wife's hairdryer and maybe heat it up a little in the back. You won't break it, the mirror is very well reinforced in the back. Once you get the first tab off, it is cake.

Don't bother with screwdriver, your hands work best because the force is better distributed.

Thanks, I needed those words of encouragement. I'll attack it with renewed vigor on the next warm day.

+1 for VLEDs....Been using them for years and they are top quality. Plus they are one of the few sellers that carry pure white 5000K color temps. I put them on all my cars and usually wait for holiday coupons to do a mass order.
