I wouldn’t offer them any info that they don’t ask...just stay quiet (or chat their head off about other things) and let them do their inspection. If they ask, tell them painted calipers was an option for the GS (it’s the truth but don’t tell them it was orange haha). You will get a form emailed to you in a day or two telling you of anything that should be addressed before return and the cost if not addressed. This independent company inspects for several manufacturers, so they wouldn’t know if painted brake calipers was a factory option or not. If close enough to your return date and the car looks like in the same shape, the dealer will not have them inspect again, and that’s it.

My experience with the inspectors has been positive. They don’t seem super strict. Consider giving them a clean car to inspect to make their job easier and maybe they’ll be more likely to cut you some slack. They’ll definitely go through the inspection faster. My inspections never last longer than 15 min.

I disagree with others saying that it would go straight to auction because of painted calipers...I’ve seen plenty of CPO cars at my local dealer with painted calipers, added on spoilers and lips, and tinted windows. Lowered suspension might be an issue though. Good for you on making your car unique for the few years you had it! Have fun in your CLS.

I returned all of my cars with tinted windows all around, except the windshield and never had any problems. The dealer ended up buying my old GS with the painted calipers and front spoiler from LFS and it was sold within a week I think.

They're mostly concern about damages.

I had aftermarket wheels on for 65% of the time so tires/wheels are good to go!

I honestly think you’ll be ok. So don’t worry too much.
