It seems some ES 350 owners have found dents in their roof: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-...-es-350-a.html

For the OP of the above thread, his dealership fixed the dent at no cost to him.

What tha fakkk?!?! Leaning on it creates dents? Damn what are these cars made of soda cans now?

I am 100% certain that leaning did not cause any dent. It was just a coincidence that the OP detailed his car and noticed the dents after that. The detailing or leaning did not cause the dents.

From all the reports of dents on roof in the IS and ES forums, it seems this is a widespread structural problem with Lexus cars that has been going on for quite some time and Lexus has failed to resolve the issue. What concerns me is, if the skin is so soft, what will happen in case of an accident? There seems to be absolutely no protection from the skin.

I recently got a 2017 GS350-Fsport AWD with 9800 mile , Last week I noticed two of these dents on driver side. They are at a place where there should not be any structural piece below them. Anyway It is hard to believe that they are due to structural issues, When I went to buy the car 3 months ago, it was raining lightly so I did not notice them. They look exactly like as if someone leaned against the roof with their elbow. I think structurally these cars should be pretty rigid . a dent due to structural flex should be wide and spread out, I am not able to visualize how a pot hole can create a dent on roof but not on hood or trunk . I have doubts . Do all 350s have them, Do they reappear even after fixing (they should if it is design issue).

Got my one dent pulled out by a PDR guy. He used the hot glue and suction cup method, I believe... I know he did not access the dent from behind the metal. Looks good now, I am happy with the job. He charged me $100, though he did say he charged me a little less because I drove to the dealership he was working at that day rather than having him come to me.

Resurrecting this thread. Just noticed a dent on the driver's side almost exactly like the previous posts. Has anyone figured out if this is structural?

The outer skin on the roof is not structural. Any good PDR place can take out the dent.

It's not structural but the roof panel is very delicate. A little pressure on it in the wrong spot and you'll have a dent. Easily repaired by PDR but probably will cost you a couple hundred bucks per.

Seriously? The big roof panel is soft and I believe it but the sides? The sides are denting from potholes and body flex? This is some serious flaw with the car. Did they fix this on 2019+?

It's not easy to dent the metal in that location especially the curved part of the roof. Not sure how these people are denting it but it's not a defect from the factory. likely something heavy was dropped on the roof, only way I can think of a dent like that happening, maybe something fell on it in a garage or debris outside.
