iPhone vs Android?
I have 2014 Gs350 AWD F-Sport without the Mark Levinson stereo (I have an iPhone 6s). So I was heading to a golf tourney and my buddy (latest Samsung phone) decided to hookup his Bluetooth to my system to play music and low and behold his emails and texts were popping up but I never get email or text pop ups with my iPhone. Anyone know why this is? Is it a setting on my iPhone?

what do you mean by the following “Although you can get messages with iPhone just have to switch so it allows it.” What would I switch or change on the iPhone to have my texts and emails pop up on the screen?

Your iPhone will get texts when you go to its Settings/Bluetooth/LexusGS/show Notifications "On".
Androids get both but your friend seems to be lucky because heavy e-mail users often lock up the BT connection.
You can compose responses to a text, press and hold the "Off Hook" long enough for Siri to trill.
"Respond Text", she'll confirm the name of your incoming text, "Meet me for lunch?", ready to send? "Yes!"
The Androids can only use the 15 canned boilerplate responses, "yes, no, can't talk, LOL..."
You can also initiate a text, same Off Hook long press, "Text John Smith mobile"
All of this works at the speed of Siri so be patient if your cell service is marginal.

+1 to what mcomer posted. I have both Android and iPhone. What the iPhone can't do is reply back to text messages and emails. This is Apple locking down their API. With Android, you can have a list of canned responses that you can choose as replies.

I used to ride around on my bike and reply to emails and text all the time! Siri...read the latest message/text. Siri reply to text...send, etc. Sometimes translations were a bit odd, but I never had an issue replying. I just ignore anything incoming now and use my Driving Mode to auto reply to text messages from my contacts to have people call me if they really need something

Android users can, while in Park, modify the 15 prepared responses. Off on the right is a
"pencil" icon. Open any or all responses and alter them to those you would like to use
while moving, "Meet you at the 7th floor meeting room". Compose while parked, use while moving.

You can use Siri for sure but iPhone can't interface with the Lexus infotainment system like Android can when it comes to texts. It's not a big deal really. I actually have messages turned off as I don't need a distraction when driving. And I get a lot of texts each day.

I like having my texts read to me by the infotainment system. If I need to reply, I use Siri for that purpose and it works well for me.
