Radar Detector Mirror Tap
I just purchased a 2018 GS350 F-Sport and I wanted to use my mirror tap kit for my radar detector. I removed the housing behind the mirror (which was tough to put back on correctly), but I was nervous to tap into the wires since I noticed that there is a lot going on and a few different connectors. On my previous car there was just one connector and was straight forward. Does anyone have any experience doing this or any tips? Also is there a trick to reinstall the housing behind the mirror correctly?

Folks usually tap into the pink rain sensor wire. I pulled my dash cam power from there, works great.

Check out @mso4's DIY on this: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ml#post7726444
"Ground wire (black) on mirror tap goes to (white) wire on sensor and (red) wire on mirror tap goes to (pink) wire on sensor."
Probably the easiest to follow instructions with pictures on CL for this. Gave him a thanks & credit in my signature too

Isn't the MirrorTap product supposed to 'tap' into the mirror's wiring harness, not require the pulling of any panel? At least that is how it was when I installed a Blendmount/MirrorTap combo on my Corvette.

You can't get to the wiring without removing the cover over the base of the mirror. It just clips together. Remove the smaller piece on top first (use something non-marring and just place in small opening near mirror stem and pop towards you) then the larger piece just slides down with windshield.

It was a heck of a lot easier than in my Commodore.

I linked people directly to what I referenced during my install and there are some clear pictures + instructions there.

Hi, did you ever figure this out? I tried playing with the different wires to see what would give me a voltage but it also appears the mirror tap doesn't really tap into the 2018 wiring harness so well. I am swapping my radar detector from my 2008 IS to my GS. The IS was fairly easy to tap but the tap doesn't seem to work on the GS.
