Damaged my bumper. Anyone know what it would cost, and how extensive is the work?

Default Damaged my bumper. Anyone know what it would cost, and how extensive is the work?

Hi all.
The pain on the front bumper has a mast chip mark. Does the whole bumper need to be repainted, or can a body shop “spot” fix it and just repaint the area? There are no other damages, just the paint chipping

Oof. I've not encountered a body shop willing to do spot fixes, at least not the more reputable shops. For a spot fix you'll need to locate one of the mobile paint repair folks who travel between dealerships doing touch-ups on used cars/trade ins before they go on the lot for sale. They can easily fix the area you need repaired.

One word of caution for the mobile painters - depending how they apply it, the spot touch up paint can be much weaker so it'll chip faster, and in my case on a car many years ago, the pressure washer at a do-it-yourself carwash peeled the paint right off a couple months after I had it touched up.

Ugh. So, having many friends in the bodyshop industry I can tell you that they will do a "spot" repair but the spot will be bigger than you think. They will take maybe 1/3 of the bumper down around that spot, paint the entire spot and then blend that into the rest of the bumper. They will probably not warranty the work because it is on the front bumper and not a complete re-spray. Cost? For that spot and the prep work and paint and all...$500 from a cheap place, $1,000 for a reputable one.

Cheaper to just get a new bumper.
