2016+ GS or 2019 ES

Based on that comment, i would think the dealer meant it might be the 2020 GS which is available at some point in 2019 as a full redesign. Lots of conflicting information among forum members on this topic though...

Too soon. Highly doubt a 2019 GS will see a redesign. You would've seen test mules 3+ years ago (at least) if that was the case. Read my comments in the other thread. GS gone, confirmed by insiders. 19 will be the last year for 350.
As far as GS vs ES, with the 7ES new platform, new suspension, massive interior, sporty handling, 300+ hp engine, vastly superior unibody, there's literally no reason for the GS. Even if the GS did have a slight advantage in certain corner carving situations due to more even weight bias, those situations would be quite few and doesn't justify a business case. I think the 7ES is an excellent alternative/replacement. Particularly in F Sport.

The ES will never be a replacement or alternative to the GS.

I mean the new ES is nice, dont get me wrong, but I am betting that most of the handling characteristics aren't going to be much different than the previous (recent) iterations of the ES. There's going to be enough roll and squish in there so most of the target market
doesn't ***** about it.
There is an entire segment of buyers who won't even touch an ES because it's FWD only. .

I would not pay 48K for a used vehicle unless it was some really expensive rare top of the line vehicle. You can find non hybrid 2014-2016's for good prices now, why spend so much on a hybrid especially when carfax and dealer are questionable. Why do you want the hybrid especially if you are considering a ES F sport?
It depends on what you are looking for, sporty, fuel economy, etc. I think if you are okay with buying/owning a ES then you should probably choose the ES, I think many GS owners or those interested in them are the types who would not want a ES and have no interest in buying or owning one but if you want one you can get a ES for much less and they are similar in many ways.

Good afternoon all,
Just wanted to add my two cents: prior owner of 2009 ISF, 2013 Toyota Avalon, 2015 GS F-sport, and 2017 RCF as my driving references. These are both good vehicles, aimed at different driving audiences, driving experience, customer base, etc. I thought I would never see the day of an ES in F-sport drag. I can see where Toyota/ Lexus is going with this-- heck even the side profile of the Camry sure looks a lot alike to that of a newer IS. Is that a good/ bad thing? Time will tell.
One quick comment-- don' knock the GS Hybrid. Just arranged to get a 2014 GS460h loaded w/ Lux package and all safety goodies - see above.
Getting the matte bamboo and the AVS in the same package with extra horses combo 31 MPG and under $37K. Not a bad deal in my mind. Thanks

nothing wrong with the hybrid for me and if it werent 10k more for the hybrid maybe i would have gotten it in my custom order but that was coming too close to the price of a GSF and i would have rather had the GSF.

Info
Just wanted to share some info with you guys. I came back from a ride and drive in Irvine for the 2019 ES. The F sport is now a very capable sporty sedan when it has the adjustable variable suspension, but still won’t be as tight suspension wise as the GS. Since I’m currently in a GS I can safely say that. Also spoke to the Western area GM and he has confirmed that 2019 will be the last year for the GS. He said it has not been publicly announced but that is definitely the case.
Don’t believe it? Take a look at the GM’s 10th anniversary edition that he already has as his demo

Definitely a good looking car. Super comfortable and capable. It’s less expensive, maxing out at about 51K and has better technology, and fuel economy so I think it will fill the shoe properly of the GS. For sure not AS sporty but it does the job

The new ES F-Sport took the GS styling so yes it definitely looks ALOT better but it's still a FWD vehicle. I just bought myself a 2015 GS 350 F-Sport but if I were looking elsewhere, it definitely wouldn't buy the new ES F-Sport. I still prefer RWD. Hate to say it, but Genesis G80 Sport looks pretty damn attractive right about now.

But, the G80 Sport is a nice car with every possible option you'd ever want and some you'd never use so I think that if the GS really goes away, the G80 could see some serious action because it offers a lot to love.
