I can understand people wanting to change the wheels to 19" or 20" or chrome or matt finish etc but i never understood the struts and springs and exhausts etc.
So that people can increase their enjoyment of the vehicle they bought. Who am I to judge that?

There's a lot of "mods" that I don't personally get/like but I got better things to worry about than someone else ruining their car. It's not like it radically affects the
used lexus market or something.

Also, I think at the same time its easy to "throw shade" etc than it is to appreciate some of the stuff that's been done. For every 10 "mod" cars that I think are "meh" or stupid, theres another dozen or more that come out pretty outstanding.

That's a pretty good way of putting it.

Because I don't want my car to look like an SUV.

If you do it right, it’s a very enjoyable experience to mod a car to your taste.

Problem is, most people don’t do it right. Even those that spend a ton of money on mods sometimes don’t understand what they are bolting on or how it relates to the other parts of the car.

A common mistake is spring rate vs sway bar thickness vs tire sidewall height. All of these things affect each other and make for a crappy handling/driving experience if not taken into account.

Individualize their car. Almost all cars have built in understeer for safety, so modifying the suspension can neutralize turn in.
