I think Carista is way overpriced for what it is now with the subscription based model.

I saw the Techstream software and cable on Amazon and read about the potential for problems... that's the reason I'm a bit cautious. If I could be certain that my ECU and/or PC would be safe, I'd go the Techstream way. But judging from all the and sarcasm... Techstream is safe?

With the Carista purchase, for $20 it looks like I would get "1-Month trial of paid app features." So I was planning on programming the settings I wanted within that month, and that would be the end of it. I already have an OBDII scanner that reads codes and even provides real-time live data. So in my scenario, $20 is not a big deal... unless I'm misunderstanding the Carista's pricing and customization...?

you stick it up your butt... no I’m not talking about the cable I’m talking about the cracked techstream software you’re using from China. You can get that free and use whatever obd cable you want but torrents don’t come clean either.

if you’re using the software on a computer you use to pay other bills then I hope you have been keeping an eye on your bank account

I have the Carista ODBII
Amazon Amazon

Thought it was worth the $20. I used it both on my GS and the RX. With the free 1 month trial, you have plenty of time to configure your car. Changing things like the windows roll down by remote and the lane changing blinker timer is worth it for me.
Dealership might or might not charge you for LPS customization. I think you have to be in the 10k miles or during the complimentary service period for them to do it free.

All sarcasm aside, I bought mine from eBay. Here is the link: http://r.ebay.com/qxEAN0

Comes with 3 files. I scanned them with Malwarebytes and everything is good.

I'm on the trial right now for Carista. Wish I could just buy it for 20-50 bucks instead of this yearly subscription thing.

It's all good, no need to get all uppity. Just be smart and check the software beforehand, as someone else already stated. I do have to ask, did the stick it up my butt comment have to do with the other comment regarding using the cable on a toilet seat? I'm done, no more sarcasm, I'll see myself out.
