Default V6 to V8 Conversion

Okay folks, this is just a hypothetical so don't gang up on me.

I was planning on getting the RR Racing super charger installed on my vehicle but that was costing just shy of $10K OTD. The GSF engine and transmission below is for sale for $6K.

I am a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff so take it easy. How realistic is "swapping out the engine/tranny" from a GSF to GS350? Is that even possible?

It's probably possible but cost prohibitive unless you are doing all the work yourself. I'd venture you'd be the first to do it if you did.

I think its possible but probably a hell of a lotta work...wiring, ECU's and even just positioning with everything within the engine bay might be a challenge. You'd have the most awesome sleeper "GS350" if you did this though!

Aha!
As I suspected, people still want a V8.

Would it be cheaper to sell the GS 350 and put GS 350 badges on a GSF? It will certainly be easier, more reliable and instantly available.

Don't forget the fender and diffuser/exhaust swaps too!

I think you're better off getting the super charger from RR. Swapping these engines sounds like a big headache you don't need. You'll probably have to swap over a bunch of other stuff over from the GSF like engine mounts, intake piping, etc adding to that $6k cost. Mind as well get something that has been tested and that will work in the beginning so you wont have to put more money into it later. Plus you will make more power in the long run when RR releases additional stage tuning to their super charger kit. Just my opinion though, I wouldn't mind seeing the world's first V8 swapped GS350 though!

Subbed! If you get a GS-F just swap the front seats from a F-Sport and you'll have the best of both worlds! No idea why Lexus put those seats in the F, for 90k I want my car completely customized to my butt.

GS350 Fsport RWD is about 300 pounds less than a GS-F, if you can get about 400 WHP from the V6 you could be faster than a stock GS-F, not that you'll see many of those on the streets....

When I first saw this I had visions of a GM LSx engine. Did I mention that I live in Bowling Green, KY, home of the only American sports car, the Corvette? Also, this weekend is The Holley LS Fest here in town.

I guarantee someone has an LS in a Lexus already. Probably an IS or LS though.

That car is nuts! LS swaps into the older IS are not as rare as you would think..
I love the sound of a LS, but Lexus V8s after some tuning sound BEASTLY.

This was what I thought too. Ironically, it would probably be easier to get a small block working in the GS than swapping the GSF V8 I'd imagine.

All of you guys are absolutely right. I do want a sleeper car and to be completely frank, the modding scene for the 4GS is a complete bust. The earlier generations seemed to have such a nice modding scene but not for this car, it has so much potential. I do not care about the labor costs, I am just concerned with getting all the electrical systems working right. Simple example, the odometer. Would the GSF odometer be a plug and play item? Of course not, the mileage would be different, the tamper indicator would light up. How about the ECU for TVD mode? Or for the ECU to recognize the additional airflow going through the MAF and putting out the right amount of fuel to avoid a lean mixture? I am assuming there will be tons of error codes. It would be beast to see this work but everyone here is talking me out of it LOL

Haha, the seats are available too for $3K. Also, with the RR Racing, I believe it is around 400 but the stock GS-F is 467.
