Thanks for all the help, I mostly understand what you did now.
Yeah I don't think replacing the hinge is worth the hassle, especially since you have to remove the hinge to see the mark to even order the correct one. I feel like if you get the wrong one the trunk lid might not close properly since the other hinge could be a different mark. I will measure and mount a bracket something like this:
Or bend my own with a kit like this:
Here is a picture of the mark on a Lexus LS trunk hinge. They just had to put it in the most inconvenient spot, like trying to hide it from you.
When you say "luggage compartment door lock assembly" are you talking about this?
Yes that one. Make sure to change out the cable from the trunk key cylinder to the luggage compartment door lock assembly. You need to use the cable for the lock assembly with the motor otherwise the pawl on it wont fully release and the power trunk will not operate. The guy mentioned it too.
For the hinge, its too much work honestly to change it. Looks like you have to remove the rear decklid to get to the hinge to see the marking, which means you have to remove the rear seats etc... If my bracket didn't work due to the angle to the closer motor, then I would have went with a new hinge. I was mainly worried that the angle may cause the motor to work harder so it may detect a high current situation and think that there's a jam of some sort and reverse direction (jam protection). But its been working ok so far *fingers crossed.
But I'd say install everything and plug it in. Then see if it works. Oh make sure that in vehicle customization that PBD (power backdoor) is set ON in the Techstream. Mine was already set ON from the factory, go figure lol.
Let me know if you need more help as you go along. Its worth thee headache to have the power trunk.

So I found out the reason there are 3 different part numbers for the hinge. It is an alignment angle. Stock would be 0, but if the vehicle has a body repair back there it could be different.
If your car has never been in an accident the correct part number for the driver side hinge for the power trunk is:
64520-30290
I was quoted $72 shipped to my door, by jp-carparts.com. I think it's worth the hassle to swap the hinge since I don't have to do it twice to check the mark. At least I'll have peace of mind that I would not inadvertently cause premature wear or have any issues in the future with a custom made hinge mount.
I would not cheap out and buy a used one, because an accident car could have a misaligned/bent hinge.
Yes, this retrofit is now a more involved mod, but I'm up for the challenge.

I think the torsion bar would need to be installed on the new hinge, might be a hassle.

Hey man, you took out the entire dash, this is a lot easier than that

You need to use a trunk spring tool. I changed the torsion bar on my previous car, easy to do if you have the correct tool. But for this car I don't think you need it, just release the tension by unhooking the spring from the side of the trunk. I adjusted the spring before because my lid didn't stay up initially(I think the spring was out of the socket).

I think I could make something like this work along with some washers, nut, and bolt:

The hinge is a 1" square tube

I got started on this mod today made a custom mount for the power trunk motor arm
This is the clamp i bought on Amazon.
I used pliers, hammer, and a drill to turn it into this.
Here it is installed.
This is what the oem one looks like.
Going to install everything else for the power trunk tomorrow and find out if it works.

@eddie420 FML the harness I have doesn't work. It's for the 2016 GS because they don't make the correct harness anymore for 2013. Apparently, it's that different that nothing works, not even the tail lights or license plate lights or open button. I used the key to open the trunk and put the stock harness back on.
Any chance you can sell me just the harness or send me some closeup pics of the wiring going into the main plug, I might just have to repin a couple of connectors, idk.

I will try to get around to it tomorrow because it is packed away (when I had intentions to sell it lol). That really sucks though, it seems like you and I had the same harness from the pictures. I'm guessing there are minor pinout differences but surprised that there is such a big difference.

Please send the pics with this angle so I can see what wire goes were. Below is my wiring harness. It looks like it has a few extra wires your 2015 harness does not have. I guess I'll depin the extra wires and see if that works.

@eddie420 @R6Tuan
So I finally got the correct wiring harness. All my taillights and license plate lights work.
The soft close latch doesn't work, the power trunk open button doesn't work, and motor doesn't move.
Only way to open the trunk is to use the manual key.
I checked techstream and power backdoor is turned on by default, but techstream identifies an error:
I also have a 2013. @R6Tuan any chance you can take a pic of tell me from each harness which wires you jumped? Anybody understand what that DTC means?
Thanks.
