Thats completely normal. It's the high pressure injectors. I feel like i have a diesel car lol

Thanks, I also thought something was wrong with the engine when I first bought the car. I had a 2gs, in comparison the 4gs' engine is louder and vibrates much more. My 2gs is silky smooth and I almost felt no vibration. That's my most disliked thing about the 4gs.

I just got mine and was worried timing was off or the injectors were faulty so I was relieved to learn about this normal DI noise. I might try the covers though.

Just ordered the covers, Thanks all for the Toyota part numbers. Buddy of mine works on Ferrari sport cars, He asked me what is that strange sound coming from the engine? My answer : Yea , for 60k the motor sounds like a loud worn out sewing machine.

I would take the 8 cylinder in my 2nd GS over my 6 in my 4GS. Smoother, more torque, better noise, quieter. I still think my 2nd Gen GS looked better then my 4G too.
