"The new GS 450h Premier utilises an air-conditioning system that incorporates nanotechnology. This new air cleaning method releases minute, 20 to 50nm-diameter nanoparticles – negatively charged ions wrapped in water molecules – through the driver’s dashboard air vent."
"The ions purify the air and eliminate odors by attaching themselves to airborne particles and molecules. They also deodorize the seats and roof lining to create a cleaner cabin environment, and are said to have a moisturizing effect on hair and skin."
You wouldn't really expect your air conditioning system to do anything other than cool you off or warm you up, but Lexus takes things a bit further than that on the new LS and GS. Those models are equipped with air purifying nanoe technology, which not only deodorizes the cabin of the car but also moisturizes the skin and hair of everyone inside. It does this by releasing tiny nanoe particles, or negatively charged ions surrounded by water molecules, through the air vents."

"The new GS is also equipped with a new deodorizing filter, which, in addition to the removal of pollen and dust, etc., also removes exhaust gas from the ambient air.
To further improve the air quality and comfort in the cabin a Nanoe system is implemented. When the Nanoe generator is switched on it discharges Nanoe ions which, surrounded by approximately 1000 times more water than air ions, moisturise not only the air but also the occupants' skin and hair. The Nanoe technology also significantly reduces odour intensity in the cabin."
I checked and our cars(at least my 2013 450h) are pre-wired for the ion generator(harness is taped down to the right of the navigation unit), I'll update the thread when I do the install.
Seems simple enough. Let us know if it actually makes any difference. Don't get placebo'ed either.
Will do, not sure about moisturizing the skin, but if it eliminated odors in the car and keeps the air clean, it will be worth it. lol don't have much expectations with this mod. Does TIS give any more information on this?
What I thought was the harness for the ion generator was not. I looked around and could not find it. I don't think the US spec cars have the connector. I'm not sure if this would even work if I tapped the correct wires.

Let me dig around a bit. Are you sure you checked all the taped connectors because when I took the car apart, I was surprised how many there were.

This was the only taped connector I could find on the right side of the head unit that I thought was the correct one, but it's a 5 pin female and I need a 5 pin male. I looked at the wires it's different colors and one is not in the correct spot.
Lexus uses this in the LS and most of the non-US GS's so I'm sure it's been thoroughly tested and safe. I think it turns itself on/off and only runs with the ac or when the air is blowing.
It's strange that Lexus provides the ion generator in their GS model cars for other parts of the world, but not in the U.S. I wonder what their reasoning is for that decision?

Apparently most Toyota Camry's, Prius, and Highlanders in certain parts of the world have it.

I believe that is for the glass breakage sensor (if that is the one on the right side of the unit and left side of glove box). I installed the GBS and that is where the ECU connects to. So I doubt that is the connector. I have a feeling the generator assembly might need an additional harness just like the GBS did and the power trunk and other accessories.
