I don't know why Eddie tagged all those connectors.

If I recall correctly, you can just use a flat head screw driver to push in either of the sides and pull it towards you and it will pop out. It's very simple, you can put some pressure, it hard plastic and won't break so no need to be super gentle.

Just coming across this and wanted to say thank you so much @eddie420 for all of your efforts. This is one of most comprehensive write-ups we have!
While I don't plan to tear my dash apart anytime soon, this may be so helpful to a variety of people trying to diagnose or mod various things.
P.S. - @bigblack06 - this topic still needs to be stickied/pinned. Looking at the main 4GS subforum, I don't believe that was done.

Can you just drop the HUD in and it works or is it more complicated and what about the controls? How much do all the HUD parts cost?
So it looks like you can yank the gauge cluster out without removing the steering wheel?
Why did the center console have to be moved?

Total cost for HUD+wire+controls is around $400 used.
It didn't. I wanted to make a few more modifications to my console. Figured I can get all my work done easily with the console removed.

What do you mean it is a sticky, right under DIY

But that wouldn't really make sense. Thanks for clarifying and pointing me to the pinned DIY topic.

Wow nice detailed guide.
Actual when I installed my HUD I purposely didn't disconnect the battery and put the car into acc(push start twice no foot on the brake) to move the steering wheel out of the way when needed. This allowed me to remove the instrument cluster/ install hud projector after making the cut in the dash.
However for an entire dash removal I would defiantly go with the techstream method or I think Carista might have the option.
