Can’t we put one of those little spinning fans in the air intake tube and create a turbo for like 50hp gains. $29.95 on EBay probably. Usually these modifications are all perceived gains, if not a loss, since your cold intake, is now closer to the engine, so really is a warmer air intake. But it looks shiny, so go for it. Not an automotive engineer, I just play one on TV.

Your right the stock air box is not sexy but probably the best cold air intake for the car. The metal intake tube will probably warm up faster from the engine and the exposed ram/cone filter is sucking hot air from the engine bay.

The engine bay is dirty. Welded a pipe to install the sound generator. Painted it gloss black. Intake Pipe is from an IS300 f-sport. had it installed in my 2013 GS.

My Camry V6 actually felt slower after installing one of those, especially in the summer. I think it was sucking too much hot air. The sound doesn't match the performance, it sounds louder and faster but I can feel that the car was actually struggling on the top end.

But this was in the early 2000s so everyone was into Fast and Furious, including me. It sounds good and looks great. The GS stock setup has the sound without the heat soak so no need for these unless it's just for looks.

There are 4 main factors in the Intake producing hp in the Lexus 350 3.5 2GR engine.

1. Increasing Velosity and Air Flow, and having exhaust mods to increase out the other end to flow through.
2. The MAF controlling the TB and not restricting, due to seeing too much air closing and limiting the Throttle body opening.
3. ECU Tune for the Intake mod.
4. Heat, and Air Temps. (IAT).

The idea starts with Flowing as much cool air as thhe engines mangement is set for. There have already been years of some measures of modiying this to produce more hp and tq throughout the whole rpm range from memebrs in the IS and GS forum. Also some the MR2 to 2GR engine swap crowd. The Takeda on the 2GR bolted up for sure just loses hp and tq. Stange as it is..... on the Lexus 200T and 300T a Cone pipe intake and filter actually gains, as much as 17rwh and 18tq. ( @BMGA !)

So with the right mods and some testing to reduce the Intke air temp, measure the flow, be sure the TB is opening more and not less, and Exhaust to exit the increased air and Tuning. Yes you could gain 10-20+ hp with the mod. Without ,at least 2 -3 above metioned you just lost hp and tq.

To share, the 1st Two pics are mine, how I know, and I am about take some measures to test the RR Racing Intake when I have time. The AEM with mods works very well, as they Flow Bench test all of thier Intakes. The Chart measures are work from the IS350 guys who been doing thier homework on this. The same I look at to see what works for gains and improvement.

More data and test changing the 2GR engine MAF and ECU Tuning.
