Default Illuminated Door Handles

I'm thinking about installing an LED in my door handles. Looks pretty cool, seems like a few people have done it with the 2IS and 3IS, example: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ml#post6716104

Seems to be standard on the NX200t... might part it out.

I take it you already did the puddle light upgrade? That's about all I'd want to do. I can't see the benefit of this unless its something you REALLY want...

I guess in reality it is just a gimmick. As the poll is showing, it's 50/50.

My uncle's X5 has these tiny LEDs in the door handles that light up when he approaches the car...its a good look especially at night since its integrated nicely. Heck, Lexus now has an option for illuminating the trunk sill logo on the 2019 ES which also has no "real" benefit similar to the illuminated door sills. If you can do a nice retrofit somehow with the same concept from the NX, i'd say its a nice touch

Yes, even the older BMWs have this although the light is very weak. The NX's looks really nice which is why I was thinking it's worth a shot. It has the same fade-in and fade-out affect when you walk close to the car and away from it. I guess I just wanted to see what people think. Some think it's tacky but I think at night it might look cool. I'm going to go for it. Just going to research which LEDs will give a nice even glow, don't need these to be spotlight bright.

I suppose the best way to do this is to tap the puddle light and run lines to the rear doors. That way the fade in/out effect is the same. Quite a bit of work, but your always up for the challenge.

I suppose it’s an easy search for the answer but does the nx use the same shape handles and would they just be simple switch outs with you’re able to tap the right wire?

I drilled a hole and put a led chip in there jumping to puddle light wire. I couldn’t do the rear doors because I don’t know how to run the wire from the door to the cabin.

This is one of those mods that could be incredibly tacky. For instance the first photo, that has "photobucket" written all over it...that looks terrible. Whereas the way it is done from the factory on the NX, and RX..looks good and not overwhelming.

Vote down on this one.
