Maybe I'm being too picky, but the nav on my 2015 GS isn't all that great. It's getting traffic updates and everything, but doesn't seem to really choose best path to a destination. Also, once it selects a path, it has trouble adjusting if I make a different choice. The other day, it kept trying to direct me back to the point where I diverged from its directions, as far as 15 miles behind me, even though I was only 5 miles from my destination. No traffic, closed roads, or other problems. I'd expect better. Maybe there are some settings I need to adjust, but it sure feels like the in-car nav can't even keep up with Google maps. Yet another reason for Andoid Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.

You probably need to read your NAV manual and change some settings. It's not unusual at all for the NAV to try to get you back on the course again (by making U-turns, etc.) after deviating from recent directions, but not when you deviated 15 miles ago and your destination is just 5 miles ahead.

Have both a 2015 and 2018 GS and agree, the 2015 auto traffic re-routing is not the greatest. It works much better in the 2018. I don't even bother using Waze or Google Maps in the 2018. It seems to work great here in the LA area. The 2015 asks if you want to re-route whereas the 2018 will automatically just do it to avoid traffic. I'd say it does a good job, similar to Waze in that it's always taking me through different routes and side streets to get wherever I'm going. I tend to trust it. I don't think there are any settings you can adjust that will help you out, however.

In-car navigation is worthless. I wish manufactures would just get rid of it and just offer Android Auto/CarPlay. Would save thousands from our costs, but of course they would never do that.
I've only used mine a handful of times. Got frustrated with the menus and just whipped out my phone and fire up Google maps every time.

I use mine frequently with great success. Definitely not perfect, but I am completely satisfied with it.

My '01 GS's nav was notorious for sending me back to the original route even if the route I was on would get me there quicker/I was closer to the destination. However, it would usually re-route to the route I "now" wanted to take after driving far enough from the original route.
My '13 GS is much better at rerouting once you change course from its preferred/recommended route. I don't think it will ever be on par with Waze or Google Maps because those are always up to the minute updated. Most folks that get frustrated with the OEM nav find a nice smartphone holder, stick their phone in it and use Google maps instead.

I'm fairly happy with the in car NAV in my 2015. Although I did have an incident were I diverted off the planned route and it kept trying to get me to make a u-turn until I was within one mile of my destination. I'd be happier with it if I could tell it to avoid tolls and highways some of the time. I have to research if there is a way to load a route I create on the computer instead of just letting it calculate a route.
I'm definitely due for a new mapset. The current mapset is from 2014 and does not have the most current information, Has anyone found an especially good deal on a new mapset?
