Default Caked on Brake Dust Finally Removed!

Hi all,

I've been struggling with some black baked on brake dust and I could never scrub off. Didn't want to result to scratching at using polish to rub it off, so did some research and found this on Amazon (Carpro Iron X). Says it works to remove brake dust and similar contaminates so I gave it a try.

Here are the area's I will use to demonstrate starting with a filthy unwashed wheel:

here is the trouble stops after I washed with hot soapy water

Next I sprayed the Carpro Iron X and let it sit for 5 min and scrubbed with a textured sponge lightly. Still saw a slight bit of black stuff but was an improvement.

Final results after 2nd round of letting it sit for 5 min and light scrubbing

Anyways, I'm super happy with the results and glad to see this black stuff is all gone Finally! Thought I'd share my results and hope this helps anyone else with this issue.

Thanks!

Next time, you may try Sonax Wheel Cleaner. Use according to instructions and you hardly even need to hand wash, just rinse off will give you 90% results.

A pressure washer will take out everything in a few seconds.

Be careful - some harsh chemicals are so caustic that left on wheels just a bit too long can cause severe finish damage. Also, the temperature of the wheel is often a factor when using such chemicals.

Agreed! I made sure to only leave it on for 3-5 min as recommended and rinsed thoroughly. Only applied twice on the really troublesome spots.
