Intermittent Drivers Window Auto Up, Then down
This morning I had my driver side window open for a few minutes. I then held the auto-up switch and the window went up almost to the top...BUT it then dropped back down to about 1/2 way down. I tried it again and same behavior. On the third try, I held the switch while the window motioned up and that did the trick.
This has happened to me back in the spring but I brushed it off as a one-off since it never happened again.
I've read a few other forum posts mentioning an MPX box that was going bad and others with simply bad switches. Has anyone experienced this on their 4GS? (I might add that it was pretty cold here this morning...around 24 degrees not sure if that has anything to do with it).

It sounds like that window was probably in need of resetting (reprogramming) the auto Up-Down feature. Sometimes when the window button is held too long it will put the window in a condition where it needs reprogramming.

This happened when my windows got tinted. The safety sensors are very sensitive (haha) so they had to be reset, otherwise the small change in thickness of the glass threw them off.
There is a procedure to reset them out there, let me see if I can find it this evening.

This video shows how to reprogram the windows. It is especially helpful if anyone has a rear door window that needs reprogramming because the rear windows need to be done first from the rear control and then finish the programming by doing them from the front. Anyway, this should help you...
