I've got about 68k miles on my recently bought GS350. No record of the plugs being changed at 60k. Is there any reason to rush to change them? As I said in a previous post, I've also got a V6 Camry which has a 120k mile change interval and that's quite a difference for a very closely related engine. Is the direct injection a factor in recommending an 60k vs 120k change or maybe they think Lexus owners will be more willing to shell out or maybe the fact that the Camry rear bank is so much harder?

If I'm not showing any problems with how it's running, engine codes or fuel consumption thinking I'll just wait a while and change them at 80-100k miles.

the 60k change spark plug is the service manual 60k service list.

There should be no rush to change them. Iridium spark plugs last a long time, much longer then 60K. I don't know why Lexus has them being changed as early as 60K unless it is just to try to squeeze every possible bit of fuel economy as they can for newer cars, probably more to do with making more money for a service.

Replacing the spark plugs at 60,000 miles is 'Required under the terms of the Emission Control Warranty'. Therefore, if you are not concerned with voiding the Emission Control Warranty, then there is no need to replace the spark plugs. Iridium spark plugs will be as good as brand spanking new when they have 120,000 miles...and will almost certainly be as good as new at 180,000 miles.
