I don't generally use the map screen, so I change to to some kind of information, usually the fuel consumption screen. The problem is that every time I restart the car the Nav screen defaults back to the map, and I have to change it again. Can I change or turn the default off? Its irritating. It ought to stay where I set it.

There is a setting for exactly that in the menu somewhere. You can uncheck the setting I think it's called "revert to map" or something like that. Make sure it's disabled.
