Sorry to hear you are so unhappy with your car. Hopefully your next one will be more enjoyable for you.
Hopefully he'll test drive it first & do his research prior to purchasing it as it seems like those steps were missed this time around. If I drove a car & noted that many faults I found with it, no way in hell I would then proceed with buying it. Makes absolutely zero sense to me. Fortunately, I love the car I drive & am very happy with it so not my issue to worry about.

@HontoKuro If you did in fact do your research and test drive your GS prior to actually buying it, then you've got no one to blame but yourself. Make wiser decisions next time around.

  • two controls for the sunroof - why do we have one for slide and one for tilt? This is the first car I with a sunroof that has two controls.
  • no good place for phone/sunglasses

Worst things about the GS:

* Backup camera resolution is terrible compared to my 2012 BMW's high HD resolution view, Lexus camera looks like 480p resolution in comparison. Yes the video quality isn't great, but why do you rely solely on the camera? I use the camera to guide when I'm getting close to something in the rear since it provides a better view, other than that you ought to be turning your head and reversing so you can see all around you, which is even better quality than 1080p.
* Virtually no storage at all and the small cubby inside the console is worthless and bottom door panels can't even fit a 16oz water bottle. The cubby/shelf in the glovebox is to keep your manual and insurance/registration info. It makes it easy to keep organized in my opinion. The little shelf in the center console is removable if you don't like it. Also, I fit a 20oz coca-cola everyday in the door panel.
* The bumper sensors (park assist) are so damn sensitive that even a light rain or snow fall will render them useless as they are constantly going off or showing errors. Adjust the sensitivity. It's in the menu. I drive in rain everyday during the summer and I have no issues with the parking sensors going off unless I'm trying to park too close to something; which is exactly why they exist. Also, you can turn the system off if you don't like it and just hit the button when you want to park.
* Rear seats don't fold. This is by design - reduces cabin noise and provides a more rigid body which aids suspension performance without having to add the additional weight that comes with a foldable seat to achieve the same level of performance. This is something you very easily could have seen before purchasing the vehicle.
* Key Fobs (keyless entry) don't memorize custom driver modes so that it would recognize driver profiles and automatically change my driver position, radio settings and HVAC settings when you open door. Again all my modern BMW's all did this very well and an amazing feature to have especially if you have multiple drivers. Besides radio setting, seat position and HVAC are programmable to the fob in my 2014. Suggest you check the manual or hit the dealership and speak to the Tech Specialist about it.
* No panoramic roof. You would have known this before buying the car, so how can you legitimately have a gripe about something that is not even available? Things like this if they are so important should steer you to a different vehicle
* No steering wheel radio control/scrolling How are the existing # of presets insufficient? Spend the time to program them and then you can switch all day long with the steering wheel.
* No illumination on the steering wheel stalks LOL. You cannot memorize the 4 functions that these things perform? Do you need illumination on the cruise lever also to know how that works?
* Unable to close power trunk with remote this is a safety feature to conform with US regulations, same reason why your windows can't be closed with the remote.

I have a few more that I will list later but are more of annoyances than bad or omitted features.
Look, I get this thread is to complain about what you don't like on the GS, but your list really makes it seem like you either a) bought the wrong car or wrong model year GS for what you really want in a car (I'm in agreement with @signdetres), or b) love your german engineering to such a level that you are just finding everything a fault on something that is different than what you are used to.

If you do actually enjoy your overall GS ownership experience despite your lists; then that's great, but it's not coming across from your posts here!

I'm not sure what you mean. There is a "vent" button. It's the wide button in the middle with a recirc car symbol, "Auto" and a outside air car symbol. Each time you push it it goes from one to the other. In Auto the car just decides whether to recirculate the inside air or open to the outside itself based on consitions and the temp you've selected. Also, as I mentioned earlier, if you go into the settings you can make it so that when you select Auto with this button it turns the AC on and off.

  • The center console between the front seats is difficult to use. After sliding the top back the driver has to completely adjust himself just to see what's in there. I've found that I simply don't use it because its too inconvenient.
  • While I appreciate the specific place for the owner's manual in the glove box (a feature my BMW didn't have, so the manual was usually tossed on the back seat), there's very little room in there otherwise.
  • When on cruise the information display within the gauge cluster changes randomly to show my speed. It seems random, anyway. And its not just when cars pull in front of me or when I close in on somebody. I know my speed and I'm aware of cars being in front of me. I'd rather see the information I've set. Is there any way to turn that function off?
  • On the radio controls on the left part of the steering wheel you press the mode button to go from AM, FM, Bluetooth, AUX, and back to AM. I only flip between AM and FM and its a pain to be driving and have to slowly go through Bluetooth and AUX to get back to AM. Is there any way to set that so the mode goes only to those places you choose?
  • Speaking of the radio, I'd like to see a simple radio scrolling that goes through all AM and FM stations that you've input in the system.
  • I'd like to turn off the car and continue listening to a radio segment or song for a few minutes, but turning off the car turns off everything.
  • Its absurd that I can't see the odometer and one of my trips at the same time.
  • I like the split NAV screen with a small map on the right, and information on the left, but every time I turn off the car and turn it back on, the screen defaults to the large map. Can that be reset?
  • I wish the display always showed the current gear. I don't use the manual, but I do use engine braking with the left paddle when doing things such as exiting a highway, and I'd like to know where I stand before I use it. It'll show the gear to which you downshift, but even that disappears in a few seconds.
  • I'd like to turn off the AC and be on vent without going through the NAV / Climate screen. A simple button would be nice.
  • The same is true for having the fan blow on your feet, chest or above. A simple button would be nice.
  • I totally agree about the console. It also is very hard to get your right hand in there. Not a problem on other cars I've had.
  • You can remove that shelf in the glove box.
  • On the info in the gauge cluster, yours is probably different than my 2013 as mine does not behave the way you describe, but mine has a menu of settings you can tweek if you hold in the button that cycles through the info and I'm talking about the button on the steering wheel.
  • On the stereo inputs, not that I have found. It annoys me too. The only good thing is that if you don't have a source connected then it skips it, ie no disc in, no phone plugged in, bluetooth off, and now that I let the satellite radio lapse it seems to skip it but still stops on Apps even though it has not been set up.
  • On the radio scrolling, doesn't it do that already? Mine has 6 pages of 6 presets and I'm pretty sure if you keep hitting up/down on the steering wheel track buttons it will cycle through them all (you might have different steering wheel controls though).
  • Turning off the car and the stereo annoys me too. Don't know if there is a fix for this. I don't know why the button presses don't function in reverse order like turning the key does.
  • On the screen reseting after turning off the car, I haven't noticed mine doing that. I'll have to check.
  • I have the same gripe about not showing current gear.
  • I just replied to another post here about setting the recirc/outside air button to turn AC on/off when you select Auto.
  • There is a button change air position, it's to the left of the bottom fan speed button.

Is there a car made that has every feature one would want?! No! I guess if there was, you'd have a guy like Dave Kindig from *****in Rides custom build one for ya. That guy has incredible talent! I just like the fact that I don't see one at every stoplight like I do my RX which is a great SUV.

You can do this. Just turn off the car while in N instead of P.

Actually, I used to do this, in N or maybe reverse but there was some reason I quit but I don't remember why but since you're reminded me of it I might start leaving it in N before turning the car off.

I did do my research prior to purchasing it and many things listed were comprises I was willing to deal with but the more I drive the car daily the more I realize it may have being a mistake. I may keep it for a few more months until winter is over with and get something else but for now this will do.

Yours is a beautiful GS. I’m hoping it’ll grow on you.

I am a GS fan, but I really dislike the ridiculous F sport brake squeal and the flimsy glove compartment bracket. That’s it with the complaints.

Could the reason have been that since you were not in Park the car started rolling toward some obstacle?

It’s really not hard. Foot on brake, selector to neutral. Push start button, move selector to P. No rolling.

No but that would be funny. I think I'd leave it in reverse, shut the car off and then drop it into park immediately but I'm remembering now that I think it caused an indicator on the dash to blink annoyingly until you turned the power off all the way. I would do this when I wanted to park and eat lunch in my car or something like that and the blinking indicator annoyed me too much.
