Based on a comment above about a professional install, today I took my glovebox out, removed the GPS unit (silver box) and placed the Grom GPS puck on top of the duct work. In my testing it worked perfectly. 3m taped it, ZIP tied it, and reinstalled everything. So far, working like a charm with no outside signs that a system has been installed.

Worth a try if you don’t like the puck, or if like me you have had a couple broken windshields lately and were apprehensive about taping it down. :-)

Nice! I kinda overdid it when I installed mine. I extended the gps cable all the way to the back of the car, pulled the cable thru the trunk and mounted it on the back window....

Is the puck sitting under metal? Any difference in GPS lock that you can tell?

Not under metal. There is a bit above it from the speaker bracket. It is above the venting system.

It acquires pretty fast. I drove 3.5 hours through heavily wooded areas yesterday and never lost signal.

You didn’t happen to take pictures, no?

I didn't. I should have. Glove came out. Removed GPS box. You will see the duct work over by the right speaker. I put it on top of that.

I mounted mine to the front window, it looks like a stock sensor.

Finally a software update! I haven't seen an update for last several weeks. Grom did say they will fix DPI setting for Android Auto so font is not so huge, hope this is it. I'll update when I get a chance and report back.

edit: updated to latest 2.3.0.0. I don't see anything different. AA still have huge interface, they didn't change the DPI yet.

Updated as well. The only difference I saw was the number of icons on the home screen went from 8 to 10. @HUSKERnKS my map button doesn't work on the Android side anymore. Is that the same case for you? I've been using CarPlay a whole lot more since updating to iOS13. Not really a big deal for me but something I've noticed.

My Map button doesn’t work even on 2.2.0.0

Which version did you update to? I checked again today and noticed it is now 2.5.0.0

Yeah, mine stopped working since 2.2.0.0 also. I thought I’d be fixed on 2.3.0.0 but it didn’t. I haven’t checked to see 2.5.0.0 yet. At least the issue is consistent with our model

I will try 2.5.0.0 later on and let you know. I am using a mix of Android and CarPlay to test. CarPlay is easier to use while driving, Android much more flexible.
