You have to connect OEM Bluetooth, and upon reciving calls switch to car bluetooth , not carplay/AA.
Exactly, just leave your phone connected to the car's bluetooth. It will take care of the rest.
I do agree, however, it would be much better to stay in CarPlay if they can work out the sound quality issues. Should be achievable given it is the same microphone.
Can you guys explain what are the sound quality issues with CarPlay? I tested my VL2 with CarPlay and did a few phone call and my friend said it sound perfect on his side. I have the mic that comes with the VL2 placed above my head right behind the center top console kinda next to the rain sensor. OH wait, now a know, my VL2 does not work with the OEM mic. GROM supplies an external mic that you connect to the VL2 to work with CarPlay. The supplied mic sounds great, btw.
No, I meant not all the Kits use an external mic. My VL2 uses the OEM built in mic and the GROM harness that comes with it interfaces with it.. That's the issue, the OEM MIC sounds really bad. I would prefer not to have to run a new mic and cable as I want my car to look stock or close to stock.

No it doesn't . you have to run a plug in Mic from the unit, to close to the drivers seat as possible. It does not, interface with the Lexus OEM mic in the car.

NEW GUY yes it does, how the hell are you going to tell me how's my car works and I installed the unit?

I have the unit also. And I have to run a wired mic to the drivers side to use voice commands or toggle any calls incoming via the car play, or physically switch over to cars Bluetooth. Is there a new harness that automatically used Lexus mic and not the one provided with Vl2 (not vl lite) ?

Not all VL2s come with a mic. My VL2 came with a mic because my car, 2012 Lexus CT200h does not allows integration of the factory mic with the VL2. My VL2 is Gen 6 (LEX6RTVL2). As far I know, from Gen 7 and up, VL2 can use the factory mic. Also, Gen 7, 8 and 9 plugs into the factory system via AUX input. Gen 6 plugs into the system via USB input.

Sorry for the snappy response; looks like @gromaudio is selling the cables my VL2 came with out the box; plus my harness has the 3.5mm you plug into the VL2 built in the harness:

all good man .. Just purchased this .. It different from the one i have now. So there you have it .. You can retain oem USB port and OEM micrphone to have a seamless car play /AA experience.
From GROM today after I filed a ticket about the CarPlay audio being , which I have had a ticket open since I bought it:
Dear BOB256k
We will have a major update tomorrow or Friday with all fixes for CarPlay issues. It will fix all the problems you have.
Make sure to connect to Wifi network with internet access to be able to install latest OTA updates.
Then click on Settings->About Device->VLine System Updates->Check For Updates
I have been in contact with Dmitry from Grom Audio about a few issues I have with my LEX6 VLine. Black Screens, no access to USB Settings when on VLine Mode and a few black screens when on CarPlay. UI Shortcut is not working. They were able to replicate some of the issues and found that UI Shortcut functionality is broken since last firmware for LEX6. He said that tomorrow they will be releasing a new firmware with the fix to restore functionality.
