Scary to hear the engine light got triggered! Happy to hear you are back up and running. I hopped on the beta today too just to see what wireless CarPlay was like. I was so tempted to click on that firmware update but everything in me told me not to. Glad I didn’t.

Yeah, be very glad. I drive an hour each way and couldn’t set the cruise the entire way. Hooked up my Carista and it was the speedometer sensor. Unplugged the battery for 20 minutes, hooked it back up, reset the firmware, and I was good.
’
I did risk it and download the software, Wireless CarPlay was cool in testing.
DON’T DOWNLOAD THE BETA FIRMWARE!!! Haha.

Few things I can report from testing Wireless CarPlay so far.
1. It does automatically launch after about a 10 seconds of seeing the Vline homescreen which is nice.
2. When playing music, tremendous level of volume is lost. I tried to crank up the volume all the way and I would say, it goes up to at max 50%.
3. I tried to record some audio with both the car in motion and at a full stop. The ground noise is high and the audio is staticky. So I’m definitely gonna try that adapter @bob256k had suggested and see if that makes a difference.
I’m guessing those are probably the little issues GROM is trying to iron out before releasing this thing to the public. If all worked out, it’s gonna be really nice to not be tethered to that usb cable at all time and look at some good ways to setup wireless charging in that car. Fingers crossed!

Crazy! I always betas but I know best not to mess with the firmware betas. This one has really affected you the worst possible way. Thanks for letting us know man. Did you have to use a USB stick to reset the firmware? I just wondering in case I want to leave the beta. I plan I’m using it for as long as it holds for now. Wireless CarPlay seems cool so far!

You guys are making me jonesing for Wireless Android Auto. I mostly make short trips in my GS. Would be nice not to have to plug-in USB cable. Though I prefer VL2 interface so I can use full-featured Waze app with music overlay. I wish Android Auto will allow more features in some apps, but I guess they don't because it can be quite distracting. Nevertheless, nice that GROM is throwing us a bone.

On your phone, go to Settings-Carplay-VLINE2 and make sure Carplay is turned on. Make sure that is the same in VLINE2 Bluetooth by clicking on the little “i” with the circle. Also, when your phone is connected to Carplay, tap on WiFi in Settings, tap on the little “i” with the circle next to the generated Vline wireless network and make sure it is set to auto-join. Again, it can take up to a minute when you start your car for Bluetooth to pair up and for CarPlay to launch. Be patient and see what happens.

WELL WAHT DO YOU KNOW GROM LISTENED and put in a AEC DELAY after saying there is NO AEC IN the VL2. I filed a ticket requesting this to fix the echo people on the phone with me. I just updated to 3.16 and it appeared. It takes a while , and they will deny stuff, but they at least come around.
