Just for the sake of making sure your gas cap is not the problem - do this. Remove your gas cap and clean the metal filler lip to make sure nothing is preventing the cap's gasket from sealing against the lip. Also, clean the cap's neoprene rubber gasket and rub the smallest amount of Vaseline to the gasket to make sure it [too] makes a good seal against the filler lip.

So turns out the engine light was the oxygen sensor. The good news its covered under warranty. The bad news is that I wouldn't expect something like this on a car with a little over 65,000 kms and 4 years and 3 months old. I'm waiting for the part to come in and then they will take care of it. I'm little disappointed that I had an oxygen sensor problem which leads me to believe Lexus isn't as reliable as I had hoped. Anyways the part being on back order leads me to believe that this is a common issue and I'm not the only one who has had to have this done. Any thoughts on this? Has anyone else on this forum had to deal with something like this?

Figured it was likely an O2 sensor.

Please don't judge Lexus negatively because your car needed an O2 sensor. Needing to replace an O2 sensor is very common across all brands...including Rolls-Royce.

We have an RX350 in our family that is 7 years old with 120,000kms which has never really had any issues. So i was a little disappointed when having to replace the 02 sensor on my 4 year old GS (even though its under warranty). I don't judge Lexus negatively still love the brand but just disappointed this happened to me so early on.

Lexus doesn't make the O2 sensor. Don't sweat it. Sounds like a part slipped through the quality control stage of Bosch, Denso or whoever it is that supplies these for our cars. Unfortunately, it was your turn to be the statistic.

It's Denso if i'm not mistaken. Fair enough I can live with that.

If ya want to talk reliability, I could tell ya about a family member who owned a Mini Cooper. It was a late model one they finally sold to Carmax for $1,000 because they couldn't sell it. On average that car was in the shop once a month.
