Can I Manually Open Automatic Trunk?

I'm sure this has been asked and answered before, but can I force the trunk up and down manually if I don't want to wait for the auto open/close, or is that bad for the mechanism?

You can pull it down no problem. to open it you may have to use the physical key.

Double click the trunk button and it’ll just pop open and you can lift it the rest of the way.

From the little I know about the GS (at least the hybrid model), the auxiliary battery is in the trunk which will not open from inside the car or with the remote when the battery is dead. From what I have seen, you take the metal key out of your key fob and you insert the key in the hidden lock above the license plate on the left side. The hidden lock is mounted close to the lights that shine down on your license plate.
