Default Clock Runs Fast After Tire Install

First, I have no idea why putting new tires on my car would be related to the clock running 2 minutes per hour fast but that appears to be when it started.

Some other models used to adjust the clock faster if you moved it up or slowed it if you turned it back. To that end I've been moving it back to see if it helps. So far I can't tell a difference.

Any thoughts on why it all of a sudden started running fast?

I personally cannot imagine how the two events could be connected in any way.

You should definitely go back to the tire shop and tell them.

Bigger tires makes you go faster, and that much closer to 'c'. Time dilation ensues.

No gull wing doors and I've not had these tires over 80MPH yet. It should make the clock run backwards though, right?

In all seriousness, the clock ran fine for the 15 months I've owned it and has now started running 3.3% fast. I first suspected they inadvertently disconnected the battery but everything else is there. I didn't lose radio presets or anything else. I thought maybe they might have tried something with the TPMS but I still don't see any connection that would have had either.

Is you trip A and B mileage reset to 0? That and my MPG since last refill were the only data lost when the dealer swapped my old battery for a new one.

And the dog, Einstein, was the first time traveler. He went a couple of minutes into the future.

Knucklebus - Try this. It won't take but a few minutes of time and it can't hurt, and it's worth a try.

Since your clock is running fast - you are to adjust the clock 'backward' 23 hours and 59 minutes, and then set the clock for the accurate time. Make a note of when you did this procedure and monitor the clock to see if it still runs fast and if so, try to figure out how much too fast it [still] runs in 'x' period of hours. You'll probably need to do the same procedure again to determine if the procedure has helped. A third or fourth adjustment may need to be made...

No guarantee, but worth a try...

Won't setting the clock back to yesterday just give it further incentive to run fast?

I ran it back 11:59 to see if the light/dark messes it up.

Supposedly if the clock is running fast, setting it back is suppose to induce the clock to run slower. This is counterintuitive to what one might expect.

There is no consensus this works for the Lexus clock, but it's worth a try nevertheless.

Never heard tires impacting the clock, but I hear changing the headlight fluid could.

OK, you guys know the tire thing was a lark, right? I've set it back now for the last few days and it still seems to gain a minute or two per hour. It is over 20 minutes fast by the next morning.

I'm baffled why it would run that fast all of a sudden. The clock in our old 99 Honda kept great time until the day I sold it last summer. You'd think a Lexus clock would be better than a lowly Honda clock.

What's it take to get that vent frame around the clock out? Is it just that one piece? I'll take it out and see what it looks like. Maybe blow it out or run it off my 12v transformer to see what happens.
