Since we have cleared up that there is no real need for a catch can with regards to the valves, lets talk about the pistons.
For piston build-up, I have found the best results over my last 3 vehicles to use the Italian Tune-Up.
This procedure consists of letting that right foot hit the ground so you, and the car, can stretch your legs.
Some good old pulls every now and then will keep your pistons clean.

I always thought I would try to get a car that would average closer to 30 mpg, but I do prefer 22-24mpg and the ability to WOT past anyone when I need to
Yeahi agree about the lower average mpg but MOAR POWR; I have an accord that gets 35 mpg, which is great but passing takes planning. With the GS , you just really stick your foot in it and everything becomes smaller....

Update: 23,638 miles. There's definitely oil being "caught", around 4k miles since last post. This is getting to be a nuisance and I might just undo the catch can.

If this was actually an issue why do Lexus/Toyota last so long, and so damn reliable without a catch can? I'm sure they engineered for that amount oil generated by blow by and the catch can is totally unnecessary. It's a harmless to install but just a lot of unnecessary expense and maintenance imo. I'm at 106k miles and car doesn't have a catch can and I don't ever plan on installing one. Goals 232k miles plus
Thoughts coming from someone with a modded 2013 Mustang gt so in a platform like this it's really not for any longevity or reliability concerns (because of the dual injection acting as self clean) I would say this is a good mod to reduce gas and oil vapor going back into the intake and lowering octane / diluting fuel if you're getting less of this vapor mixing with your gas you're going to have a higher octane rating which these cars have the logic to take advantage of. If anyone knows anything more about the engine management on these things let me know.
